I just bought $280.00 of the Taika pattern, and it's BEAUTIFUL! However, I was surprised to see it wan't made in Finland... it's made in Thailand. I'd still buy it again because the patten and quality is lovely (especially for being so durable), but $40.00 for a plate made in Thailand would have made me think twice. Just know what you're ordering!

As in a previous review for the iittala mugs, these plates are very whimsical and a hot topic at dinners. People can't resist flipping them over to see where they're from and inquiring where to get them. The mix of blue dinner plates and cereal bowls, white salad plates and mugs makes iittala a very eclectic choice.

Although this is an actual dinner plate, I purchased it as a decorative accent. It is equally stunning in red, but the cobalt is better with my decor.
It looks great on my display shelf; it would look equally good on a wall.
The detail is crisp and the colors are rich.

Really beautifully rendered plates with a very unique design. Not only are they beautiful, they are strong and chip resistant. They are oversized - bigger than the usual dinner plates so be mindful of any storage issues. Even though they are oversized, they are not heavy. I was a little leery about ordering plates in the mail, but the packaging was superbly done and all of the plates (ordered 10 in total) came safely.
