As the world teeters on the brink of World War II, 10 strangers are invited to isolated Soldier Island. ONE TO ANOTHER is of of very few interesting movies that isn't shy about showing off its teenager cast's nubile flesh. The story of murder in a smalltown might be too far-fetched, but the mood was right and the cast was so enticing. Not to be missed. CAUTION: hard-coded subtitles can be so irritating at times though.

An intriguing story about a group of friends in a small french town. These 4 boys and one girl create relations with bonds that become very strong and destructive (as the story unfolds). It's Pierre, whose provocative and egoistic behaviour make him the centre of the story. He is obsessed with being loved, being desired by everybody, which leds him to have affairs with all members of the group (including his own sister!) and to sell his body to an old closet gay.
The life is going well, until the day the young man is found dead...
There is no happy-ending here. And though, some of the plots may seem disturbing, the film is really well done and well acted. I don't regret any single second I spent in front of my tv.

Every time I watch a French film I can't help but think how different the French are from the rest of us. I don't mean anything either positive or negative by that statement. My reaction to this film is very unfair, and something that I generally hate when I see others do it. But I can't help it. I was intrigued by the film, enjoyed watching it, was pleased by the amount of naked beauty throughout (this goes back to my first sentence), and at times thought it might turn out to be one of my favorite gay-themed films. But then we get the ending. Now that's what I hate: judging a film or book just because it doesn't turn out to suit you personally. But there it is; I can't help it. And my judgement is all the more unfair since the film is supposedly based on a true story, so what choice did the director have? I didn't actually know the film was based on real events until the end when I read it onscreen. That knowledge immediately made me question everything I'd seen and enjoyed. I have this suspicion that few if any of the characters in the film were really as portrayed on film. So, I've told you all my unfair reasons for not loving this film, but I'm still giving this film 4 stars (a bit reluctantly) and telling you it's well worth watching.

The true story of five young people living in the French countryside. The story centers on Pierre (Arthur Dupont) and his sister Lucie (Lizzie Brochere). Pierre and Lucie not only enjoy sex with each other but draw their friends into their erotic world, often bedding the lover of the other. Life is pretty good until Pierre goes missing and Lucie falls apart.

This is a French film that will appeal to Americans who find French films lacking denouement. Strangely enough, even though there is a lot of flesh in this film, it didn't feel all that sexual due to the characters casual sexual attitudes. Gorgeously filmed. Highly recommended.

By sheer coincidence, I've watched six films in a row that deal with incest. The Good Wife (wife sleeps with brother-in-law), Damage (sibling sex and sex with sons girlfriend), Murmur of the Heart - Criterion Collection (mom has sex with her son), Savage Grace(mom has sex with her gay son) Somersault (Girl sleeps with mom's boyfriend. Incest-y enough.) One To Another, Somersault and Damage were the best of this odd cinematic journey.

This French film is based on a true story. It concerns five friends; four young men and a woman. The central characters are brother and sister; one year apart. They love each other intensely. The film oscillates between the present investigation into the murder of one of the characters and how things were before that event; blissful, intense in some ways and musically strong. The four boys are a rock band. To say more would give the plot away. I shall certainly watch it again.

This film was really, really awful. Boring, confusing and dull. It is saved from getting one star only by the fact that there's lotsa cute naked people! It's helpful, but not enough to build a movie on.

What was wrong with this movie? It's very disjointed, for one thing. Much of it is told in flashback, and while there's nothing wrong with that in principle, you have to have people who know what they're doing. This film appears to lack that.

The movie centers around a girl searching for clues to the murder of her brother. The brother in question was something of a slut/prostitute, who slept with just about everyone, including her (though apparently they never actually Did The Deed).

It's not a bad plot idea, but frankly after the first hour or so I stopped caring. None of the characters really engaged me. Sure, the bare skin was nice to look at, but shallow though I am, I do prefer there to be a little more substance (besides, if you want a couple movies with acres of attractive flesh, check outY Tu Mama Tambien and The Dreamers (Original Uncut NC-17 Version)).

In more competent hands this could've been a good movie. As it is... well, put it this way: if all you want to do is see the nakeds, rent the film from Netflix. Since it's released by them, I'm sure you can find it pretty easily. Don't be like me and buy a copy you're now stuck with.

Le film c'est merde.
