In my opinion this is the best synthetic clay you can buy. I have tried a few other cheap imitators but they don't hold detail as well as Apoxie Sculpt and they seem to have shorter working times even though they claim to be the same(they also have a much more unpleasant odor). Also some other Synthetic clay brands change their formula without notice which is VERY ANNOYING. Apoxie Sculpt has remained the same and they don't mess with their formula.

If you're here reading this, you already have an idea of what you need it for. I'll just tell you that it's a great product, there are no extra steps to add to your creative process, just mix equal parts, knead together, apply, wait a couple minutes, sculpt it, let it set. That's it. Is it worth your hard earned money? Yes. Is it great for pieces larger than a coffee cup? Well... yeah, but that would be expensive. It is worth your time and money to have this in your arsenal if you are a crafty person.

This stuff sticks to pretty much everything and I love how it stays workable for such a long period of time. You get a completely different affect when it's partially hardened vs. newly mixed. It recommends working with rubber gloves but if you do, make sure they are fitted tight to your hands otherwise they just get in the way. Definitely keep a jar of water in reach to wet fingers and tools as you shape. Holds detail well and takes spray paint well but the surface is a little slick so brush painting can be tedious.

Does everything it says it will, easy to use, a fair price, it seems to be going a long way......like all over the coffee table where we have kept it and used it nearly every day since we got it. Hubby won't stop making stuff with it, so I guess it's pretty good stuff, and he knows his sculpting and effects stuff. He says it's "awesome". I say, it's on my coffee table, move it already!

I love this stuff. Been using it for awhile now. Ordered here as opposed to my normal ordering via Aves. Cheaper than manufacturer site with prime ordering. Received as ordered and quickly, which was much appreciated as I was almost out of my supply. I sculpt with it, and when dry I carve on it, sand it, paint it, and mix stuff into it and mount stuff on it when wet. I make tools, make jewelry, gifts, faux raku pottery, and use it for repairs around the house. When cured it is so hard and sturdy, while maintaining such great detail. Tips: Keep your fingers away from your face when handling it, nasty rash results. Use hydrocortisone to clear it up. Working time shortens on hot days to 1hr..speed sculpt! Its best to sculpt in stages, in small quantities. If your doing a large sculpture you can sculpt as you would clay, where you use an inner form of foil or newspaper, but you can leave it inside in this case and seal it up with an outer layer. It will slump, so use molds or other items to prop parts as they cure. Also, just get the color wheel or add pigments to a white base, not really necessary to purchase a rainbow, just mix color into part a, then match the mixed amount ball size to your part b. Oh yeah, best thing i have found to keep surfaces and your hands sticky free is olive oil, or a hand cream with olive oil. I use olive body butter from the body shop, its works grwat even to smooth clay surfaces. After it cures, just rinse the cured clay in blue dawn and water. Btw, use only blue dawn, a dish scrubber and warm water to clean up. Dont forget under your nails, and dont wash uncured clay down sink, it cures under water. You can slow the cure by sticking it in the freezer, and speed the cure by adding a little more part b to part a, instead of the normal 50-50 ratio.Read more ›

It works good for it's purposes. This product is crucial to my line of work as a doll artist. I use it to pad out areas that need more stability or to sculpt whole features that require more strength/resistance to breakage. It sticks to almost anything so make sure you clean up right away because when it is dry, it is dry there forever (including on clothes, tables, ... pretty much anything).
I may try going to for "fix it" kind next, as I hear that it holds detail better. My only gripe is that sometimes getting the product out of the containers is a bit of a pain.

I use ceramic clay to create body parts (head, torso, legs, feet and hands) after they have been fired when I put them together to form a figure, there are spaces that need to be filled-for example, where the top of the leg meets the hip. I use the apoxie sculpt to round off the shape and I use paint to cover the area. Because I put the parts together, I can make bigger figures, texture the apoxie sculpt to match the clay and there is no shrinkage.

quick:
1) this stuff is amazing
2) amazon has a really good price

detail:
Apoxie Sculpt is a two part synthetic clay with some really amazing properties. Once mixed the cure time is leisurely without taking forever. You can shorten the cure time simply by working it a bit more before you take to sculpting. I'd say it starts getting noticeably stiffer in about an hour and is pretty set in about 3 with a full cure of about 8 hours (this depends a lot on temperature and how long you work it)
It works a lot like clay in that it will stick to most materials (and your hands) unless they are wet. I personally have a bowl of water handy to dip my fingers into if it's cracking too much or sticking to what you don't want it to stick to.
When it sets up, it's really strong and temperature resistant to something like 400f (memory might be failing me on that one), carve-able, sand-able, and paint-able. It doesn't shrink when it cures either.

I've used it to make masks, fabricate replacement parts, and to "skin" sculptures that are insulation foam at the core.
I love this stuff.
