I have several of the telescopic boom versions (Model 210/9) of this stand. I use them professionally almost every day in the studio and on-location, and could not be happier with their performance and reliability. They cost a little more than the similar appearing stands made by "On-Stage", "Musician's Gear", "Samson" and "Ultimate", but are made to a very high standard and work every time.

The K&M folding stands are used by many pro engineers for a reason - they just work right!. They are made of fine materials, everything is well machined so everything fits, they have a precision feel, and they last forever.

For situations where I need higher mic placement, I still love my old Shure S-15s, and sometimes I will chose my "Ultimate" (squeeze grip) stands for vocal mics, but the cheaper "Musician Gear", and "On-Stage" stands are kept around only for the rare situations when I need a large number of mics or as "back-ups". Once you use a K&M mic stand (or a K&M music stand), going back to a cheap Chinese stand is like switching from driving a new BMW to a used Hyundai. No offense to Hyundai, or even "On-Stage", but the few bucks more that the K&M costs is a tiny price to pay for the improved quality, and will be paid back many times over during the extended life of the product.

I've operated a recording studio for years and have had many mic stands break or strip out through the years and I still have 2 of these stands that I bought in the 1980's under the AKG name and they still work, as a matter of fact they've lasted longer than another mic stands I've had. These stands are more expensive than the competition but worth every penny, buy them you won't be sorry.

This is truly a professional mic stand. I use it to hold a Rode NGT2 with a small adapter for recording audio in a green screen studio but it would be great as a normal mic stand as well. It is lightweight enough to carry around between locations but it is still very sturdy. I would recommend this mic stand to any professional.

I bought this then I bought the fishman loudbox mini songwriter package from sweetwater which came with an onStage boom stand. You will know the difference if you have K&M and onStage stand side by side, the K&M is so much more solid and firm and well built. The $40 more is well worth it.
