Bene Casa's 6-cup "cafetera," as they call these units in Spain, is an excellent substitute for the WAY over-priced Bialetti. Clearly some folks like the "charm" of being able to say that their "cafetera" was manufacture in Italy instead of China (wher Bene Casa's unit is made), but if the quality of the unit is equivalent, is it worth paying $20 extra for the name? I do not. This is all aluminum, just like Bialetti's, and all three disassembling parts join flawlessly. The espresso made is the same as that by Bialetti's and other "cafeteras." So, unless you have money to burn, buy the Bene Casa brand and you'll enjoy a quality unit that produces the same excellent espresso. Now, if I can only find a 12-cup unit by Bene Casa...

Well I use to have one of those in another country, I could not find one here, so decided to look on amazon and great I found it so cheap, but I dont like the coffee maker quality at all, I think is not good, Im still using it because I love coffee and I like drink avery day, but Im not very happy with the coffee maker, anyways it was on time, and very cheap too (this case I preferred to pay a little bit more).

ONE STAR IS TOO HIGH.

We purchased the 3 and the 6 cup models for XMAS Gifts.

The 6 CUP leaks without ever even heating it. Just along the bottom edge at one of the corners, the casting is too thin!

The 3 cup does not leak until you heat the water. It then sprays out steam along the main "seal" between the pots and all AROUND the pressure valve (not through it).

I do so wish they had included in the product information that these are junk manufactured by the cheapest company in China. With this poor level of workmanship, who knows how many heavy metals are in it.

Don't risk your health, buy a product from somewhere that has health and quality standards.

It would be nice if they had included a definition of what they define a 'cup' as.
I thought it would be a standard size, like the cups you use for cooking and measuring.
Even a picture next to a human hand would have been helpful.I wouldnt have bought this item If I knew how small it was.

Edit:Upon further review they define the size of an espresso cup differently, which is why I changed my rating.I could just as easily delete this whole review and start over, but I decided to leave it up because it might be helpful to someone else.

If you're not willing to spend hundreds of dollars on a pressurized espresso maker, consider one of these stove-top models. You can make espresso for several people at once. The coffee is not quite as good as from a super-expensive machine, but is far superior, in my opinion, to that which I've had from any espresso maker for under $200.

You do have to be careful to watch it. If you forget it on the stove, the rubber seals will be ruined, and are annoying to replace.

Got this in hopes to make my daily coffee (versus getting a typical coffeemaker).
At first opening, everything seemed ok.
Made my initial first pot and didn't know how high or low the gas stove was supposed to be to get the percolating action going.
After figuring out the right temperature, it seemed fine enough... every now and then it would seem that I would have some water leftover in the bottom reservoir - not sure if that's normal or not.
And as others have reported, recently I had this unit over the gas flame a little off center while washing the dishes and smelled burning plastic. Thank God I was in the kitchen and was able to prevent a fire!
The handle melted somewhat but remained intact and I can still use the unit (now that I place the unit more off-centered so the handle is far away from the gas flames as possible). Instead of grabbing it by the handle I just have to use an over mitt and grip the unit from the top. Not ideal but still functional...

A coffee maker that looks like this has graced European kitchens for decades. Unaware of replacement parts for my coffee maker I replaced it with this one. It is so light in weight it's an embarassment to Reynolds Wrap. So light it warps if even slightly overheated. When it does it will never hold a seal again. Hot water goes everywhere but into the upper chamber where I used to find some pretty good stove top Espresso coffee. Only professional help will improve my mood in future haveing suffered a disapointment of ruinous proportion.

Benecasa...what happened to the original? My former and first Benecasa was made of heavier material and the lower chamber was larger and I enjoyed using it for many years with no problems. Also, the base was imprinted with the Benecasa name and there were numbers stamped inside of the flip-top cover...this particular Benecasa has no markings anywhere; which leads me to suspect it is being manufactured by a new entity who is making a lower-quality product. Although It still makes good espresso, I feel as though I am handling a "toy reproduction" of a former superior product and I am disappointed.
