Bought this and installed, was what I was looking for, first rain it leaked. I returned it and amazon was quick to replace the part. The second one was on my truck for about 2 weeks until it rained. Called go recon and there customer service stated that the foam gasket is all that is required and that it shouldn't leak. Returned the second 1 and had Amazon refund my money. Don't waste your time unless you plan on installing and putting RTV between the 3rd brake light and cab. Looks great on your truck, leaks like a running faucet.

Living up in the Pacific Northwest we see our far share of rain and I was skeptical when I took this out of the package as it has the flimsiest 'seal' if you could even call it that. I looked up RECON's youtube installation vids and used a ton of RTV silicone as they recommended and two days later on the first rain the unit was half full of water. Looks way better than OEM - just not up to par.

First one received was cracked. Second one I installed and first day of rain it leaked. I checked the seal that came with it and it was not distorted. It was leaking around the whole housing where the seal did not cover. I had to actually seal the assembly with adhesive.

Looks good, but....it leaks like a faucet. Good product if you live in the desert. Otherwise, dont waste your money. Miniscule foam seal on the light doesnt even compare to the factory one. I am returning mine.

It started off great. It didn't fit perfectly on my '09 Duramax but I installed it with a bead of black silicone around the outside to seal out any water. Doesn't leak but now it doesn't work either. When I push on the brakes, only the three middle lights will turn on and they are very dim. So now I have to peel all of the silicone away from my pickup and put my original third light back on.

I ordered this RECON 3rd brake light with a bit of worry because others said they had issues with water leakage. Not sure if their seal has been updated but the one my light came with is every bit as good as the OE seal. After I installed it I put a small bead of clear silicone on the top side of the light just to be safe. I'd buy it again...wish I had bought it sooner.

I have no ability to do anything useful with my hands... more so when it comes to anything automotive. From un-boxing to install I think it took me under 5 minutes with 4 of those minutes trying to get the trucks own thread clip back in line with the hole.

I have a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500, and if installing the main tale lights is as easy as this (or head-lights) please let me know... I would love to buy them all.
