There are a couple of other reviews mentioning BPA lining in the cans. I have started buying these beans in April 2013 and the cans now specifically state BPA free. This is no longer a problem for these delicious beans.

I don't like this product at all.I have been growing fava beans for my own home use consumption for more than 20 years.Unfortunately this year's crop was not as
good as I had hoped for and I was looking to buy some additional beans.
Looking at the offering of Amazon for the Westbrae beans I thought that this was
just what I needed but what a disappointment. After opening a can, at 1st glance
inside I knew these are very old beans. How could I tell? The big black stripe
on the top of the beans mean they were grown to maturity and probably dried before
canning, making them very tough. The taste:horrible.The product in my opinion isn't worth more than a couple of nickels per can.
Well,live and learn.

Very welcome addition to the kitchen cupboard...these USDA organic small black lentils Westbrae Brand come packed to the top in a 15-ounce can and are ready to eat. The ingredients are water, organic black lentils, and sea salt. Nutrition info is:

Serving size: 1/2 cup (or 130 grams)
Calories per serving: 90
Fat (trans, saturated) 00. Zero
Cholesterol: 0. Zero
Sodium: 125 milligrams
Total carb: 16 grams
Dietary fiber: 8 grams

Protein:7 grams
Since Beluga black lentils are said to have a higher protein content (24 grams per serving?)You can see that these small black lentils are different from Beluga...
I was glad to see that nice blue label on the website for Heirloom Beluga lentils, glad to learn about them and would like to order them. What I received from this webpage was small black lentils, not Beluga. Instead of belugas,I received Vegetarian organic black lentils. Not that I'm sorry about it; the can label has a wonderful recipe for soup, and a vegetarian diet pyramid for nutrition. These small black organic lentils are delicious and nourishing. I recommend them to you to try, and I'd like an opportunity to order and try the Heirloom Beluga lentils as well sometime. You'll like the small organic black lentils, many ways to serve them.

I agree the nutritional information is completely wrong, and not just on this site. I reported the error here, using Image Feedback, and also to another site.

But at this price, I would still purchase this product. I've ordered this many times. I always rinse the beans a lot before using them, anyway. Unrinsed beans give me immediate heartburn, but I can eat cans and cans of well-rinsed beans with no problems. (I believe that I must rinse quite a bit of that salt away.)

I love soy beans. Typically I buy them organic, frozen or fresh, but thought I'd try these since the cost was much less. I don't like canned food. But.. these are great. Not mushy. Very glad I tried them. I will continue to buy them on auto delivery. I took the advice of other reviewers and did not drain all the liquid. Excellent addition to chili. Works great with lentils and brown rice. Great with pepper and fresh bread. Very filling and satisfying.
