This unit features the latest in wireless technology to ensure easy installation and reliable quality. Includes a 2.5-Inch LCD Monitor and a wireless backup camera that easily mounts on your existing license plate eliminating the need for any cutting (screws and all installation accessories included). Unlike the other wireless Back-up systems in the market, this unit features 12 LED sensors built into the camera providing a Night Vision image under dark conditions. This means that your visibility will not be hindered by limited light. The camera is simply installed by mounting it over your existing license plate with the provided screws. The camera is then powered via the existing Reverse lights on the vehicle eliminating the need for lengthy wires or complicated installation. The diagram depicts the two power cables which are easily installed into the existing reverse lights in a matter of minutes (5-10 minutes). The LCD Monitor plugs directly into the cigarette lighter with the included cigarette lighter adaptor and can be mounted almost anywhere including clipping onto the air condition vents, mounting on the visor or dashboard etc. The camera will automatically activate when the car goes into Reverse. That means that you don't have to press anything: Simply shift your car into reverse and your LCD monitor will automatically turn on. The Night Vision is also automatically activated based on weather conditions. The only time you will spend on this unit is the few minutes it will take you to install it - after that, you're all set! This camera set up seems to be well designed & of good quality. We played with it around the office, only at the length of it's attached wires. However, my pick up is a 4 door long bed 4x4. We call it the space shuttle. It's length puts the camera on the rear bumper too far from the monitor on the dash & the signal on the screen is pretty scratchy & fuzzy. I have successfully backed up to a tailer alone with it but I sure wish the signal was clearer.

This is all you need for a rear-view camera. I paid 3-4 times this much to another vendor for a larger-screen gadget for my other car; it attaches to and is bigger than the rear view mirror and provides great color. It was a royal pain to install and cost me a bunch of money for my local garage mechanic. (the other vendor gave me a store credit to make up) But all you need is this little 2.5" screen in black and white (most of the time). I wish I had known about this before I bought my first one. You don't need HD! You just want to know if a kid or a dog or a bicyle is lying behind your car, and this gadget will tell you that for less than $100. I installed it with a little difficulty, in 3 or so hours, with just basic tools. If you are reasonably handy, and you get lucky like I did in terms of the accessibility of your back up lights, you can do it. Basically you need to run a wire from the back-up light, inside the trunk, and finagle it through to connect to the camera which you attach to the top of your rear license plate. If you can do that, the screen just plugs into the cigarette lighter, and you're in business. Worked the first time, for me.

All these cameras are of necessity extremely wide angle, so that you see all you need to see, hence it is very difficult to judge how close you are to something as you back up. All they really tell you is, is there something back there, or is the coast clear. But that, as noted above, is all you really need to know.
