First, let me say I am the queen of side by side testing. So....I purchased the gold-plated version of this eyelash curler and put it up against my trusty Maybelline curler that is probably older than, aww, let's say it at least goes back to the Clinton Administration. Absolutely no perceptible difference at all in the curl, but the Shu Uemura's design for the pad eliminates the lashes getting pinched and caught. So I am going to put aside my Maybelline and protect my lashes.
