I got these for use in my Bodyguard .380 in order to loosen up the trigger pull and familiarize myself with the trigger travel, loading/reloading while safely being at home.

For any gun owner, being able to understand every aspect of your weapon is the first priority when you want to maximize your safety level, especially around loved ones and neighbors. Snap caps are a VERY smart way to practice with your weapon and train others with the function, because there is zero risk. Just double-check to make sure you're not somehow mixing live ammunition with the snap caps (you'd have to be blind, these are a deep red in color)

I've had zero issues using this with my Bodyguard .380, and have been able to familiarize myself very well with the trigger on this gun without the huge cost of expending ammo. Best of all, I can continually use this just for practice.

Came quickly, and as described.
Load/cycle perfectly in LCP .380
I did notice slight wear after some use along rim of case, only cosmetic though it doesn't affect function of snap caps.

I would buy them again.

I was a little nervous ordering these considering some other reviews. They feed fantastically in my Thunder 380 CC. They eject clean and clear, about the same as spent casings after popping off a round. They're lighter than bullets, of course, but they are heavy enough that you don't feel that tremendous weight difference you do when you've got an empty mag in the well.

Bottom line: I can't speak for other pistols but these are great for the Bersa Thunder 380 CC.

The reason I title the review how I do is simple. The Walther (and by Walther I extend this to the Bersa I used for the dry fire drills with these snap caps) does not like the caps. You will have sometimes failures to extract. Failures to eject are common, as the caps prefer to fall out and the last cap has a tendency to hang up and not leave the chamber.

However, before you write the caps off and think I put the stars in the wrong places in the review...try it with some live rounds (safely of course. Simply load a magazine and seat it in the pistol. Then rack it until it is empty. I have found the pistol is equally finicky with any live rounds without the bullets expended.

I highly suspect this is because the extractor and the cut in the slide are proportioned for empty brass which is both lighter and shorter in profile than unfired ammunition (which has the bullet making it longer overall in the case) and by expansion, the snap caps imitating them. I've seen reviews for these on other websites and it's always the guys with the PPKs or Bersas making this complaint. If you have found that your live ammunition unfired does not imitate this ammunition and that only this ammunition gives you problems if you are racking it out of the gun I would be very surprised. The reason being that the ammunition is designed by specification to be the same size as FMJ ammunition. It is not as heavy (though the box claims it is) but live ammunition for the purpose of loading the magazine and racking the slide until the magazine is empty does the same thing as these rounds do.

I gave this product five stars because it imitates real ammuntion to a T.

In all fairness, I have used 9mm Zoom caps and they worked ok but I bought these for the Glock 42 which chewed
up all 5 in less than a week! It could have something to do with the extractor design of the 42 but this review is based on my experience with the 42

I like to take snap caps with me when I shop for guns. A lot of the new super-light DAO guns aren't meant to be dry-fired, and gun stores often prefer that you don't as a result. Hand it to the clerk, have him confirm it as a snap cap and test the trigger -- that simple.

Also good for dry-fire practice at home -- I always load a few of these when I'm practice drawing since you should generally be practicing trigger-work at the same time.

Marked down a bit on price, as "dummy rounds" are cheaper than fancy "snap caps".

As others have stated, these are NOT good in a Walther PPK. I just purchased a brand-new PPK (S&W, of course) and 3 out of 4 times these won't extract. I have to remove the slide and ram the butt-end of a pen down the muzzle to knock it out. The extractor just won't grab it. I thought I might just have a bad extractor, so I had someone with an Interarms PPK try one, and while he did extract, it didn't fling the snap-cap out the way it should have; it just kind of fell out of the extraction port.

I held one of these snap-caps side-by-side with a live .380 round and found that the dimensions don't match. I didn't use calipers so I don't have exact measurements, but it was clear that the lip of the casing on the snap-caps are thinner than what you'd find on a live round. It also seems that the diameter is a little off as well.
I have 9mm snap-caps (same brand) for my CZ 75 and haven't had a single malfunction. They are flawless. These .380 ones, however, seem to be pretty hit-or-miss, but perhaps it's just PPK's that they don't work well with.

By the way, it's worth noting that I did a few tests with live rounds in my PPK (I haven't fired it yet) and haven't had a single problem. I tried loading rounds from the magazine and extracting and tried dropping rounds directly into the breach through the ejection port with no magazine and extracting. No problems whatsoever. So, some might think that this 1-star review isn't fair since I've only tested it in one model of firearm, but shouldn't they work in any .380 automatic?

Update 3/03/2015: Since writing this review, I have fired nearly 100 rounds (give or take) from my PPK and I didn't have a single malfunction. Everything cycled perfectly, so I can say with absolutely certainty that the snap caps were the problem.
