Consumer Reports is not only the magazine to go to if you're looking to buy just about anything (they even reviewed hot dogs and light beers this past summer), but it is also entertaining just to flip through at the breakfast table.

I still think that Consumer Reports is the best magazine out there. The least biased, the best reporting, and despite some weaknesses (yes, I do think they focus too much on electronics), I still think that every American Consumer should have a subscription.

I think their concentration on automobiles and electonics is purely an economic one. I think those issues probably just sell better. But they also do a good job of reviewing other products, from foodstuffs to cosmetics.

I can't believe some of the negative reviews! One reviewer gave the magazine a "one star" review because he said that Consumer Reports "doesn't promote" American cars enough! I don't get it. If you want a magazine that "promotes" cars, then buy Car and Driver.

Consumer Reports doesn't "promote" anything! They give you their honest opinion. And I find that they are right, most of the time. I'm thankful for the article they did on car seats about a year ago. Although they later retracted the article, because they said that the "speeds were too high" when they were testing the car seats, my husband and I went out and bought the Britax car seat-- the one that performed the best at the highest speeds.

And Consumer Reports is also the magazine that turned me on to McDonald's premium coffee. I was a (and still am) a bit of a coffee snob, but the Consumer Reports article got me to try it. And guess what! It's pretty good. So I save myself $3 dollars every time I go to McDonald's rather than Starbucks.

This magazine will save you money, and they don't accept any advertising. No other magazine (that I know of) tries so hard to be impartial. I like that.

I love using the magazine and make most of my purchases based on the reviews. I gave it 4 stars only because it tends to focus too much on cars and electronics. I like that even though it tells you which is best, it also has recommended or best buys. Just because something is the best, it doesn't mean that it's the best for you and it gives you options based on features or cost.
