I work from my home office approximately 10 hours a day. I needed more space to spread out with my laptop, monitor, conference phone and printer and still have room to work with my client files. This desk has a great plat workspace. I don’t have a PC to put in the cupboard space so I am using the space to store office supplies such as paper and file folders in the back part and a small trash can in the front.

The desk was shipped in two flat packed boxes. The first thing I did was to line up all the boards and sorted the various screws into a muffin tin. Checked to make sure everything was there. Following the instructions was not difficult if you take your time and follow each step one by one. I completed the build in a little over 2 hours working by myself and taking my time. I would recommend having a second person help with the vanity panels and the desk top. They are pretty heavy and the surface can get scratched pretty easy.

For the price this desk is very well build and looks great. I would like to see a more scratch resistant surface but I will just have to be extra careful. This is why I could not give a 5 star rating.

I would recommend this desk for my fellow remote workers out there.

This desk took a little over 2 hours to put together (2 people) , every thing was labeled clearly and instructions where clear. Easy to put together, but with furniture like this, it is a little time consuming. except to spend 2-3 hours putting this together.

The desk color is nice, and feels solid, for a desk that you need to assemble, It is not a hardwood desk and shouldn't be compared to one, this is heavy particle board and veneare.

Bush furniture was nice to work with, one of the parts had a scratch that I didn't like and they will ship a new part, in a week, no hassle, good service. Lucky I don't need to take the whole desk apart to replace it.

Shipping was free, and pretty timely - took about a week, and was shipped via a freight company. Boxes and product arrived undamaged.

Loved saving $$ over local office stores, and having it delivered to my house.

The good:

* When it's all done, this is a really nice desk to look at. It's a large L with nice wood grain, so really stands out in a room.

* Much sturdier than I expected with no central support under the L. I love having the deep room under the desk with no feet in the way. The top surface is composed of 1" particle board as opposed to more standard 3/4" so there is only marginal flexing when applying pressure to the corner join (or keyboard tray, which connects near the join).

* The keyboard drawer is very large and deep, so you can store a big keyboard and mouse, and other accessories that can be stored out of sight in the back.

* The assembly instructions are completely accurate (AFAICT), but the PARTS you receive may not be (see below). Trust the instructions; question the parts you receive.

The bad:

* Computer tower design is bad. Cabinet is completely enclosed except for a small, 2" top-to-bottom slit in the back of the inside wall. This makes airflow tough unless you keep the cabinet door open. Who though drawing air through the same hole as the exhaust was a good idea? A few ideas: move the tower to the inside corner where there lots of space, or replace/alter the cabinet facing with something with venting or speaker foam, etc.

* No wiring holes ANYWHERE. Except for the aforementioned slit for the cabinet, all wires must be routed down the back of the desk. Kind of crazy. If your desk will face toward the room, you'll probably want to route your own holes in the top of the desk.

* Particle board. Like all Bush furniture, it's particle board with a wood grain laminate so it WILL SCUFF EASILY, particularly during unpacking and assembly.Read more ›

My parents bought me this desk for a graduation gift, and I will warn you, it is time-costly to put it together, took me about 5 hours. I will also recommend that you take your time and read the directions because it's particle board and it will break easily when tightening everything. Don't use a drill either, just hand-tighten it with a screwdriver etc.

After it was put together I loved it. It was the perfect size for me and my computer setup.

All together, it's a good desk..

I did modify the drawers myself as well, and put some locks on it I picked up at the home depot...
i think if someone was really dedicated enough, they could yank it open, but keeps it shut.

This desk is great. Very good looking, very solid wood pieces, pre drilled holes were on point and easy to get the proper hardware into. I would definitely buy more of these in the future.

There is one huge downside to this desk though, but I won't knock any stars from the review because of it. The assembly for this desk was hellish! I didn't find the assembly especially confusing or difficult, but it was extremely time consuming. When we received the desk, it was broken down into as many small pieces as you could possibly break it down to. There are 50 steps in the assembly book, (with over 200 pieces of different hardware) and because of different configurations, you end up having to complete at least 30 of the steps. (which is better than 50 steps, but still takes a LONG time) Putting this desk together is no joke. I put it together with my girlfriend and it took us about 6 hours over two days. I can imagine for most people you're looking at anywhere from a 3-8 hour task putting this thing together. Lastly, an electric drill is going to help you put this together a lot. I did it all with regular screwdrivers, and many screws are especially hard to bore down into the wood. It's doable, but my hands are now blistered and I got one hell of an arm workout putting this thing together. Could have cut an hour or two off our assembly time if I had a drill, and spared my hands the abuse!

On the plus side, once you assemble it, you can take it apart into two big pieces fairly easily for transporting it to different rooms or moving purposes. All those little steps though... this was a huge assembly for a desk! I wish it would come more pre-assembled, but this is still a great desk for a good price.
