I got this to help insulate our windows during the winter, as opposed to the thin shrinkable kits that are sold everywhere. This does the trick, and is very heavy, but I wish it were a bit clearer. It has a bit of a cloudy look to it, but it's far clearer than a standard clear plastic dropcloth.

This was purchased primarily to protect our garden from winter freezes. Yes, we do get freezing temperatures in Arizona! When we received it, we were very pleased to discover how thick 4 mil is....and the rolls are 25 feet long, which is more than adequate for our needs. The film held up perfectly throughout our winter, and evidenced no stress even after high winds that would likely have ripped thinner plastics. We can think of hundreds of other uses for this film. So glad we got 2 rolls! Recommend highly!

I used this to make a water blob for the kids in the backyard. Fold the plastic in half, tape the sides with strong tape, stick the end of a hose in one corner, tape shut, and turn on the water. The kids jumped on this for hours, and the plastic help up well. No holes!

Local hardware stores and the "big box" home stores usually carry less than 3 mil material, which was not sturdy enough for a project I was doing to help our plants through the winter. This package size is convenient and this stuff feels thicker and stronger than you'd think 4 mil would be. It was easy to work with and of high quality.

I use this plastic to wrap my 12' x 12' screen porch each year and it works great. I got cheap one year and bought 3 mil instead of the 4 mil and it was a mistake--it ripped out in the first high wind. While the thinner stuff is certainly more clear, this 4 mil plastic is fairly clear--at least clear enough to see through it. This plastic is very tough and doesn't rip easily, but I learned one trick about putting it on the porch (there are 4" x 4" studs every 4') and that is to run a strip of duck tape down (top to bottom) the area where I will be stapling and then staple through the duct tape--the staples don't rip holes through the tape the way they do through bare plastic. By the way, the reason I wrap the porch isn't necessarily to keep it warmer but to keep the snow out. Have you ever raked a few feet of snow off of a porch in mid winter? If you have, you'll understand why this plastic is a bargain, lol. And it's cheaper on Amazon that it is at Home Depot (and ships free with Prime, which is another reason I pay for that each year).
