Arrow makes a great product and a good stapler, however the T50oc stapler has a flaw that needs attention. The anvil which causes the staples to flare outwards is cast and breaks often. Granted the staplers I use get a lot of use, but if I pay $45.00+ for a tool I expect to get a fair amount of use from it. I have some anvils break after a couple off hundred staples and other after a couple of thousand staples. The replacement anvils are cheap but, to get 20 of the anvils shipped to me would cost $20.00 for twenty pieces (for 80 cent apiece anvils)plus the price of the anvils. A little excessive...........

Several months ago I used my buddy's Markwell G26 to fasten/refasten some new and existing vent duct insulation jacketing. That OC stapler never missed a beat through about 2000+ cycles. Since I didn't want to bug him again to use it for another project, I decided to get one myself. After reading the reviews, I knew I was taking some risk with the T50OC for quality and reliability but it cost less than half of the Markwells and I already had a regular T50 stapler and a pile of T50 staples in my shop. When it arrived, I could tell that the packaging had been opened, but otherwise everything looked new. (BTW, you can remove the stapler from the packaging without really opening it) I loaded the stapler with Arrow 1/2" long T50 staples and went to work on a cardboard box to get the staple outside curl adjusted to my needs. I shot three staples and decided no additional adjustment was needed. The next staple jammed. I cleared the jam and the stapler continued to jam on the next two dozen staples. I tried different sizes staples and they all jammed too. I was ready to send the thing back when I decided to back off the curl adjustment to where it shot a straight staple without jamming. Then I began tightening the curl adjustments back to where I wanted it and the darn thing started working correctly. I went on to shoot about 700 standard steel staples (1/2" & 9/16" length) with only a single jam (which was partially my fault - don't OC staple into hardwood). However, I had to keep an eye on the staple curl since the adjustment screws would back off after a couple of hundred shots causing the staples to straighten as the curl adjustment was lost.Read more ›

jamb nuts fell off, for some reason I thought the jamb nuts that adjust the leg spread were captured nuts, they are not and I lost them on the first use. I had a little trouble getting the thing adjusted, but it worked well when I did. the instructions told me to adjust the set screws in or out for leg spread, it did not mention to snug up the jamb nuts afterwards. I am really mechanically inclined but I read directions too. fell a little short. but, as usual Arrow staplers are built well, and I expect no more problems as soon as I can go to town and buy a couple of nuts to replace the lost ones.

Lasted through five sections of 1-1/2" fiberglass duct board, then jammed horribly. When I disassembled it to remove the jam, the anvil was shredded on one side. Firstly, I dialed this product in on scrap pieces to get the appropriate clinch spread, then tightened the lock-nuts a quarter turn past finger tight; the nuts still loosened and fell off. After dialing it in again, I used Loctite to maintain my setting, but the spread kept decreasing on one side, and not holding the foil very well after about 20 staples. Functions well as a straight stapler now, but seeing as I have about ten of those already, I'm not too pleased. I will order another, because the price point is appropriate, but if the next one fails, I will be sending them back.

I wanted an "industrial quality tool" and it does not do thick cardboard W/One-Half Inch Staples; it does not do thick cardboard W/Nine-Sixteenth Inch Staples. I hoped to use it for packing books for shipping and still have to use glue. I have not tried it on HVAC Duct work yet, but have some doubts. It was hard to find and Amazon came through in (1) identifying it for Lowe's Hardware employees and (2) making it available for about $40.

I ran 3 boxes of staples through this stapler and only had half a dozen jams. The offending staple was easily pulled out. I installed new ducts in a 2000 sq. house using 3" duct wrap, stapling was easy even in the tightest places.

Not bad - Bought this for ductboard. Took quite a bit of adjusting to get it to shoot correctly. But it does the job great! Arrow staplers are always the best!

Still trying to figure out how it reverses the staple "wings" but it does, and works perfect. No jams on mine for the 50 or so staples I ran through it.
