I love these needles because they are bamboo. When I knit with metal-tipped circular needles the stitches have a habit of slipping off when I don't want them to. The bamboo is warm, feels good on the hands and has no drawbacks. I've used them to knit socks (using two circular needles) and now I'm using them to knit a scarf.

I've read where some people don't like them because the plastic part is tightly coiled. An experienced knitter told me what to do about that: Boil a cup of water in the microwave. Take the cup out of the microwave. Hold the two bamboo ends together parallel to each other and dip ONLY the plastic part into the water. Do not put the bamboo part in. Keep it in about twenty seconds and then gently stretch out the needle holding one bamboo end in each hand. Voila! No more tight coil. It might be gently curved but that is OK. Let me know if this works for you, too!

After using plastic and aluminum knitting needles, the Clover Takumi Bamboo knitting needles are so much easier to use! I learned how to knit as a child at my grandmother's knees. Back then, the aluminum needles were the "thing" to use. When I picked up knitting, about eight (8) years ago, I experienced the use of bamboo when I purchased my first set of circulars. Wow! What a difference in ease! The yarns did not fall off the needles because there was a certain amount of "grab" in the bamboo, yet they release the yarn off the tips beautifully - when I want it to slide off. An added dimension, if you have arthritis, yet still want to keep your fingers nimble, so you knit, the needles maintain the warmth of your hands! This has been extremely helpful to me. And the Clover Takumi are consistent in their quality. I can't say enough -- except I can't find all the sizes I use around here -- hence my purchase at Amazon! And...if you use straight needles, Clover Takumi Bamboo has them, too!

When I first started knitting, I thought the metal needles were the way to go. However, I eventually tried these bamboo needles, and they are fantastic! They are really good quality, worth every penny. The yarn slides easily, but not so easily that you can't keep hold of the yarn. These are really great, I have gotten 4 more sizes of the circular needles since my original pair. I love these!

These Clover Takumi Bamboo Circular Knitting Needles are great.
It was such a pleasure to knit smoothly without the yarn
catching on rough edges.

A past experience - I had purchased a set of "no name" circular
needles (sizes 1 through 12) for $25.00 + dollars. The first
time I used one of the circular needles, the cord cracked and
broke.

The Clover needles are pricier, but the price far outweighs
the aggravation and time wasted with inferior quality products.

I would recommend these bamboo needles to other beginner to intermediate knitters who are interested in making beanies, berets, etc.

Sine they are bamboo, your stitches won't slip off very easily.

These needles are nice and light, comfortable to hold, and a good length for the hats I've been knitting. However, even though I knit pretty loosely, I always have trouble sliding the stitches from the cable back onto the needle. It takes me longer to finish a project because I spend so much time tugging and pushing the stitches from the cable back onto the needle. I've had better luck with the U-Nitt circular needles, whose cable is more like tubing than a solid cable; the stitches slide much easier for me.
