The Marantz SR5002 Digital Surround Receiver is a high-performance, high-power home theater receiver that offers outstanding surround sound and video quality. To maximize the audio reproduction the SR5002 is equipped with the Marantz own MRAC one touch speaker calibration system. I'm on my second Marantz amp because I upgraded from the 4000 series. I like the Marantz as it has a 'warm' sound, as opposed to, for example, a Rotel which is a superb amp but too 'clinical' for my ears. Rock, pop, classical, this amp handles them all in style. The SR5002 does what it is supposed to do, it has all the features you need, and sounds great whatever format you use. I use mine for CDs, DVDs and Apple TV. B&W speakers complement this amp perfectly. For the price, a great amp.

I first purchased an Onkyo 705. The Onkyo was very user friendly, and also had a few more bells and whistles. But I returned it because I was not happy with the "tinny" sound. Luckily, I stumbled on the Marantz. What a difference! This receiver has a very sweet sound. Music sounds great, with a warm full sound. Home theater is awesome too. I love it.
