The SpeakerCraft AIM7™ Five is the flagship of the AIM7 series. The fully pivoting 7-inch woofer is now made of Kevlar® the lightest and strongest material available for woofer construction. Bass response is absolutely superb while remaining tight and delivering significant impact. The independently pivoting 1-inch dome tweeter steps up to an aluminum/magnesium alloy further improving on the already impressive high frequency performance of the model Three. The AIM7™ models let you aim the woofers and tweeters, meaning the sound from the front speakers can come together for better "imaging." It’s the beauty of the AIM7™ speakers that they can do so much while remaining hidden. Recessed behind flush-mount grilles, they deliver incredible sound without the need for bulky speaker cabinets.

It’s a different story with rear-channel speakers. Most movie soundtracks direct background sounds such as rain, echoes, explosions and distant events to the rear speakers. This requires crisp and accurate sound up front and diffusion at the rear of the space. The AIM7™ models, with their pivoting tweeters and the unique WavePlane™ baffle, answer the call. Mixing and Matching for Your Home--How to Get The Exact Speaker for Your Specific Needs

SpeakerCraft offers the broadest selection of architectural loudspeakers found anywhere. Regardless of the room size, configuration or interior design elements, there is a loudspeaker to fit every application. Our unique method of timbre matching allows you to select speakers from a wide variety of different designs and maintain the same tonal balance. This is accomplished by simply selecting the same model number from each series.

For example, you may decide to use AIM LCR Three in-wall speakers for the left, center and right channels of your home theater but you would like to use the AIM7 in-ceiling speakers for the rear channels. To maintain the same sonic signature in the room you would choose the AIM7 Three for the rear speakers. Regardless of your aesthetic or performance requirements you now have a multitude of speakers from which to choose.

Then, Fine Tune the Sound to Your Room's Acoustics

Separate front-mounted EQ switches for bass and treble on the AIM7™ Five and Three models let you tailor frequency response to suit your room’s acoustics. Speakers Designed to be Beautiful and Easy to Install

The exterior flange of the speaker, as well as the grille material, were designed to be painted if desired. If you plan to paint your speakers, SpeakerCraft recommends that it be done prior to installation. If you decide to paint your speakers sometime in the future, it is best to remove them by simply reversing the steps for speaker installation listed above.

When painting the speakers, the paint masks provided in the carton must be installed in place of the grille. The grilles can also be painted. However, great care should be taken not to clog the holes, as this will greatly reduce the sound quality of the speakers. Before painting the grilles, remove the material under the grille. Place this material back in place once the grille has been painted. SpeakerCraft recommends only light spray painting using 5 parts thinning agent to 1 part paint. Do not paint the grilles while they are attached to the speaker. If it is necessary to paint the material under the grille, follow the same procedure used to paint the grilles.

How to Make the Installation Easy

Since the inception of the company when SpeakerCraft was a retail location installing audio systems throughout Southern California, the need for high quality flush mounted in-wall and in-ceiling speakers was obvious. However, just as critical was the need for these speakers to be simple to install. The SpeakerCraft mounting system has been carefully refined over the last thirty years making them incredibly easy to install with a minimal amount of effort.

A cardboard template is included with each speaker, which the person installing simply needs to trace around in order to determine the exact hole size in the drywall. The drywall is then cut and any insulation directly inside the hole is pushed out of the way. The outer flange of the speaker is wide enough to cover the hole even if the cut is less than precise.

After removing the grille, the speaker wires are attached and the speaker is inserted into the hole and, using a standard Phillips screwdriver, the screws are turned clockwise. The first turn flips out a plastic dog behind the drywall and subsequent turns tighten the dog to sandwich the drywall between the dog and the outer flange of the speaker. Then the grille is snapped into place and the installation is complete.
