I used this brush to cut in relatively dark wall colors against a white ceiling, so accuracy was important.

When I first opened the package, I was a little skeptical because the brush seemed very thick, even at the tip. I soon realized that this thickness was my friend because the brush will hold a lot of paint without dripping. I found that I could draw a cut line up to 36" long before I had to refill the brush. This made the hundreds of feet of ceiling cut-in go relatively quickly.

Why 4 stars and not 5? I bought 3 of these brushes and one of them shed clumps of bristles for the first couple of days I used it. Eventually the shedding stopped, but it was pretty annoying.

This is my favorite brush so far, having tried a couple purdy's and a couple of the Wooster alphas. It's firmer than the alphas but holds as much or more paint, making for long runs and speeding up the job. Can't speak to durability yet, as I've only used it a couple times. Put it this way, on a interior repaint with several other $20 plus brushes available, me and my buddy were both angling to have this brush in our hand at about all times. For the price, I doubt this one can be beat!

I am a professional painter and for quite some time we were using the purdy brushes available at sherwin. I always had issues with them (amount of paint they hold, lack of stiffness for cutting lines, the way the outer bristles curl after a couple weeks and send stray whirls of paint all over the place) so we went about trying out a few others and once we landed on the silver tips we haven't bought another brush other than these since.
They hold three times the paint of the purdy contractor brushes and, as a result, from time to time they will drip, but that is honestly the only downside once these get broken in. They cut the cleanest lines out of any brush I've ever used (probably at least half of whats currently on the market) and the firmness is helpful when doing custom work where perfect lines are necessary.
As for how they hold up over time... We paint anywhere from 2-4 apartments a day 6-7 days a week and, using a brush per man, they hold up for 3-4 months with proper cleaning with a stiff brush and soap. They only lose their shape when the cover gets destroyed, but even then they are an incredibly effective brush. Around the 3 month mark the brush starts to kind of bell out at the tip as the bristles lose their coating, which makes cutting perfect lines a little harder in cramped spaces, but they still work up to 5 months or so for the normal cuts around switchplates, in corners, ceiling lines, etc. Even then, you more than got your money's worth as the average $10 purdy will break down long before that.
My advice... Buy one, try it and I bet 9/10 will never use another brush.

Nice inexpensive cutting brush. I have been a professional painter for 45 years. I use these all the time. As with any brush you will get some loose filaments. I can get a number of jobs out of each brush with great results. As they wear down or get fluffed out they get demoted from fine cutting to lesser jobs till finally used one last time and throw out. Would buy again! And will!

Have painted most of my life and pro/part time for couple of years. It is really hard to rate brushes as everyone has their own style of "stroking". Used a 2" version of this at work and it just seemed good, so I bought myself a 2. 1/2". It cuts a really controlled line and seems to spread paint smoother than what I had been using. I am just recently investigating differences in brushes. This may or may not be for you, but the price is right and worth giving it a try.

I bought a couple of these when I was painting my house and quickly discovered they were worth the money when you compare them to the black foam brushes I've used in the past. I mainly used these to cut in (paint right at the line where the wall meets the ceiling) and I found I could make a very straight line thanks to the slanted tip. The brushes were easy to clean and reuse for multiple colors. I had lots of people over helping me paint and everyone was fighting over who got to uses the two Wooster brushes. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is in need of a good cutting brush.
