These little wonders are a perfect price point. They come in different heights, are easily available and most importantly, They WORK. Beginners find them very comfortable and it gives them a great start in learning how to find a perfect balance point. They also make them in different heights now. They squish into the cases easily enough and come in purple as well as black for performance. I have known some professionals who have used this and they rave on and on about something so simple that actually works! I too, have used them on occasion, and find them far superior to the other basic brands out there. If you are a player you know what I mean. I refer to it as, THE PURPLE SPONGE. They really are a genuis and great solution for a blend of squish, fit and support that's hard to beat.

Exactly as expected. I was a bit surprised it came in such a large box with so much packing paper. It works great! conforms to my shoulder and the instrument with ease. Highly recommended! It sits on your shoulder and doesnt move at all while practicing. Best part is it squishes down to fit in a tiny pocket in my case. Id order more for future use like one reviewer did to let students use it if they had trouble with the solid shoulder rest. I guess you could even put a drop or two of essential oil on the shoulder side to add a nice smell while you practice. I like eucalyptus oil.

I bought this for my daughter. The sponge is pretty soft and collapses easily. It doesn't give much support anyway. We went and bought Bonmusica shoulder rest, which is more expensive but works so well.

Working wonderfully! They are a good size and firmness- my students who have these love them. They soften up quickly and mold a bit to the student's shoulder. For some students it is too tall however and we've had to trim it down.
Fits a 3/4-4/4 violin well.

Ok, I teach violin to elementary school students, and I was never a string major, so I'm not exactly Paganini. As a guy who plays violin almost as well as the third row violinists in an average high school, I find these to be very comfortable. I like them better than the more solid ones, because they always fit. They don't slip off the violin, and you're not constantly adjusting them. They also don't break in your violin case, and the foam provides enough friction that it stays easily on your shoulder. I have seen folks using rubber bands to keep these attached to a violin. I don't bother with that; I put the pad on my shoulder-it stays well, and then put the violin on top of it. For me, they are a great value. Just some additional information to think about; I ordered a mess of these for my violin students with mixed results. In all fairness, when you give very small 4th graders full sized violins, there's no product that's going to make them easy to hold. (The school owns full sized instruments.) Some of the students really love them; some not so much.
