Very nice shoulder rest, super customizable. It had a very odd smell when I first got it (kind of like the memory foam pillows smell) but that went away after a few weeks. It doesn't fit in my case the way my old Kuhn shoulder rest did, but I think I found a spot for it, would like it if it were easier to fold down/disassemble so that it could fit in my case easier. But for playing its amazing, no more sore neck or collapsing like the old kuhn.

Aside from the height adjustability, which is good for people with long necks, this rest also has a tilt feature, which doesn't lock in place. I like it best in the nearly upright position.

The tilt hinge is one one side, so you only have to stabilize that one side.

First take the large plastic screw out to get better access to the hinge. Then just wrap masking tape around the hinge, or wire or something you can remove. You want to make sure you like the feel of it stabilized and in what position you want it stabilized. Once you are pretty sure you like it stabilized, then for a permanent fix you could solder it, I suppose, but I'm not sure solder could stand the pressure.

I'd suggest using masking tape because it doesn't stretch like plastic tape. You can also use aluminum tape. Wrap it tightly and MANY times around, otherwise the hinge will still try to tilt. It's quite possible that you fine it more comfortable not in the fully upright position, in which case you can insert something like a wooden match stick or some tape in that place where two metal parts meet, before you wrap the hinge.

I've tried a number of shoulder rests, and this one finally does it. It can adjust to a very high height, which is necessary for those of us with long necks. The foam-padded bar can be bent, so you can create a custom fit for your anatomy. (Rigid shoulder rests have caused problems when I raise my arm to hold the violin: my collar bone comes forward and a rigid shoulder rest forces the violin to swing forward.) The width of the shoulder rest can be adjusted to fit the violin, and the bar tilts side-to-side for added adaptability. The feet have rubber tubing-type material on them, which doesn't slip on the violin. The only problem I had was with the feet popping off the ridge of my violin. I bent that part of the feet with pliers, and now it holds well. Because most of the parts are metal, you CAN bend them, unlike many shoulder rests. This has got to be one of the most adjustable violin shoulder rests out there. I've never tried the Bon Musica, which is also supposed to be very adjustable. But the Wolf Forte Secondo is light weight, and the feet fold down, so it fits in the violin case. I would highly recommend this, especially if you have a long neck.

I've been playing the violin for over 15 years now. I've tried many different brands and models but every time I kept coming back to this shoulder rest. The first Wolf Forte Secondo I've had lasted me over 10 years (still fine up to now). I have to change the rubber on the legs from time to time but the metal frame is durable, while there's some wear on the foam after 10 years of use (playing couple hours everyday)... I bought a new one recently since it's so inexpensive and having the additional one could be really handy.
Now I recommend it for my students because you can bend the metal frame easily to fit anyone's shoulder. The height is also very adjustable, so if you have a longer (or shorter) neck, it's still fine. It only takes maybe 10 minutes to set up for each student and then we're happy that it's so much easier to work at postures with the right set-up.

This shoulder rest is great! As someone who is 6'2'' and previously used a Kun chin rest, I constantly felt discomfort as it did not extend outward from the violin enough to be suiting for person of my height. This rest does and is ideal for someone tall.

As well, the rest has a bit of spring to it. In a way, this trains you to relax as you are playing. It is just the right resistance to keep the violin steady but helps you realize when you're clamping you neck too hard as the rest will bend inward. This helps you and violin get in tune (pun intended) and really connect with the instrument.

The only complaint I have is it's lack of compatibility. The rubber feet rotate inward but it would be nice if the screw securing the sliding rode in place was a thumb screw. I have to squeeze the rest into my case full width case case for the rest configured for a 4/4 violin! Pulling out a screw driver every time you want to use/put away your violin is not an ideal situation and anyone with a bottle neck case likely will not be able to fit this rest in theirs without doing so.

In short, best shoulder rest I have ever used just wish it folded up a bit smaller...

My son needed something adjustable that would prevent him for having to angle his neck in such an extreme way when he played his violin. His conductor recommended this, we found it on amazon and it is exactly as it was described. My son uses it daily.

Excellent shoulder rest. Easy to shape, but fit me fairly well to start. Highly adjustable, doesn't fall off and is very comfortable. I prefer the Bon Musica slightly, but this one is excellent as well.
