While I realize many ovens differ by a few degrees, these took almost 15 minutes baking time, then another few minutes out of the oven. Cheaper to make homemade from scratch, and tastes just as good. With so many free recipes on the internet, I should have known better, But for $8, I thought certainly I would get more than 1 pan. Very disappointed in the quantity, especially for an average scone recipe.

Excellent mix, very difficult to "mess up". Just use your fingers to cut in the butter. I made this in a scone pan Nordic Ware Scottish Scone & Cornbread Pan. After cutting the mixture into wedges, I put each wedge into a section of the scone pan. They came out perfect!

Makes really good basic scones in about 30 minutes, start to finish. Exactly followed the recipe then at the end of the kneading step added a good sized handful of dried cranberries (used Traverse Bay brand) and kneaded the dough ball a few times more to mix in. They came out delicious with raves from the household.

Update (03/24/15):
1.) Used freshly squeezed tangerine juice as part of the water required. Adds a really nice background flavor.
2.) I also notice the price has jumped. I originally bought for 6.95/box with free shipping as an add on item. The price is now 9.29 with the free shipping. A 33% price hike over the period of a month is outrageous!!.

Very good basic scone mix which can be adapted with add-ons. If going for a sweet vs. savory scone, try adding a little sugar to the mix as it has no sweet taste without it. As suggested by another reviewer, using cream instead of water sounds like a good idea.

Super love this scone mix. I've never made scones before, I used this mix as a starting point, mixed in lots of yummy stuff (specifically, olive oil, lavender, black pepper, and parmesan cheese), and despite all the edits to the basic recipe, my scones turned out *perfect*. I'm sure they are delicious just plain, but the plain-ness lends itself well to add-ins.
