I bought this product on Amazon. It includes an attachment bracket with hooks that fit over the bike handlebars. Once the bracket is attached to the bike, the detachable basket can the fits in place to the bracket.

The basket is well made and durable. It easily detaches from the bracket.

However, the bracket is a potential problem. It is not designed to be securely bolted to the bike frame, so there is too much 'slop' (movement) when the basket/bracket is on the bike. This allows the basket to flop around a bit when you are riding, especially when the basket is loaded.

To overcome this problem, I crimped the bracket hooks that fit over the handlebars so they fit more snugly around the hendlebars. And then I DIY'ed an additional stabilizing bracket from inexpensive parts I bought at Lowe's.

I included a short video for anyone interested in seeing the istallation or my modification.

Summary: I am a very happy biker now. I rate the basket a 5, the bracket a 3. Overall a 4.

I've been using this basket for eight months or so and have been fairly pleased with it, but it is far from perfect.

Pros:
1) The mesh bottom is GREAT! I don't worry about anything falling through the bottom of the basket. I know that my phone or wallet or whatever small item gets tossed in will stay put.

2) The fact that the basket is removable is VERY handy. When my bike is too heavy with groceries, I can remove the basket instead of hauling full basket and bike up the stairs to my house. I've also loaded it up with groceries and strapped it to my bike's rear carrier a number of times.

3) The size is good and not unwieldy. I can fit my purse and, if need be, work laptop in the basket. Or purse and lunch bag. I try not to put anything too heavy, but a bag or two full of lightweight groceries fits without much trouble.

Cons:
1) After six months of use, I realized that the bottom support not only wore the paint off my Specialized Ariel's head tube, but wore a GROOVE into the metal as well. This is a MAJOR con and the sole reason I will not purchase another basket with this style of support assembly. Granted, my bike is made of aluminum but it wasn't a cheap bike box store bike. I don't know if the bracket would hurt a steel frame bike and I'm unwilling to test.

2) The "locking" mechanism is less than adequate. As many reviewers have stated, if you hit a bump, the basket handles tend to bounce up which then unhooks the basket from the bracket/support. I don't know about you, but the idea of loosing a basket in transit is pretty harrowing. My fix for this problem is to attach a carabiner on the top sides of the basket to hook onto the handles and keep them from unhooking.

This is a great basket, it just does not fit the handlebars of my bike ! I would recommend buying this if you have a basic bike with slim handlebars, but if you have a mountain bike or hybrid, the handlebars may be too wide to be able to use the basket.

I bought this basket based on the other positive reviews, but I believe that it has a serious design flaw. Once you do a quick home fix, it's great, but the flaw is bad enough that I'd consider the fix to be mandatory in order to make riding safe.

The removable basket attaches to the holder in two places: at the bottom, two small hooks hook into the bottom mesh of the basket, and at the top, the edges of the basket's handles hook into two little loops on the holder (by "holder" I mean the part that's attached to the bike). To remove the basket, raise the two handles of the basket so you're holding it like you would hold a basket at the grocery store, then gently lift off the holder to disengage the two hooks at the bottom. The basket is locked into place when the handles are down, and is not locked in when the handles are raised.

Here's the design flaw: normal, everyday riding can cause the handles of the basket to lift up. If the handles lift up, the top of the basket detaches, since the handles being down is what locks the top part in place.

And if only the top of the basket detaches while the bottom is still held, the basket will roll forward and tumble onto the pavement directly in front of the bike, potentially causing you to crash or fly over your handlebars. I found this out the hard way.

For instance, if you hit a pothole and your bike bounces up and down slightly, the handles of the basket also bounce. Imaging holding the sides of a standard grocery store basket, and then suddenly shaking it directly up and down. The handles will bounce upward. If you hit a large enough bump that your bike bounces significantly, the handles will lift up high enough to disengage the attachment system.

I submitted a few pictures as my review. I hope they help answer the same questions I had when searching for a bike basket.

This thing is awesome.

This is a good basket, and I'm very happy I purchased it.

The item I received is the same as the one in the user pictures on the site, not quite the one in the official product picture. The differences are: 1) mesh ends a little bit higher in the basket, which just means that there is more protection for your smallest items from falling; 2) the mounting for the basket has two hooks that poke through the bottom* rather than a shelf to hold the whole bottom, which means that when you remove the basket the mount is not so bulky on your bike; 3) the hooks for your handlebars have a rubberish padding that keeps the basket on your bike snugly and protects both the basket and bike. Overall, I think these differences are improvements on the basket!

*Note, I don't think that the "poking" aspect will harm any of the items in your basket. Nor do I believe that this mechanism provides another place for items to fall through; it's a tight fit.

In addition to what I mentioned above, here are some of the things I like about the basket:
1) It's a great size. You could stick many types of bags in it, or keep it as its own basket. But it's not too bulky. The walls are tall enough that items won't jump out when you hit a bump.
2) I like that it's removable. It's perfect for groceries and similar outings, and it's easy to take off if you want to ride without a basket.
3) I like that it's part, but not all mesh. I wanted mesh so that I could keep small items in it without them falling out. But with all mesh, I would not be able to lock the basket to my bike with my cable bike lock. I live somewhere where the basket would definitely be stolen if I could not lock it in place, but my cable fits through the larger slats.
