Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

Feel the Noise fits in with other dance-heavy films such as Stomp the Yard, Step Up, and You Got Served. The young hero in this film (which comes courtesy of Jennifer Lopez's Nuyorican Productions) serves up former B2K heartthrob Omarion Grandberry as Rob, a fledgling rapper who gets into trouble in New York. Fearing for her son's life, his mother ships him off to Puerto Rico to live with his father Roberto(Giancarlo Esposito) and half brother Javi (Victor Rasuk). Rob and Roberto have a strained relationship, but the two half-brothers quickly bond over their love of music. With the help of a girl Rob is sweet on, the two find themselves on the brink of a bonafide music career--that may bring Rob back to Harlem. Set against a backbeat of reggaeton music (which combines elements of reggae, hip-hop, and salsa), the film has its work cut out. The genre is little known to much of the film's demographics (teenagers), and Grandberry is likeable, but he's not a convincing leading man. His role requires simmering sexuality; he provides adorableness, but the moviegoer is never convinced that he is anything but a nice boy. Zulay Henao is lovely as Rob's sexy and sweet girlfriend, but the two actors don't share much chemistry. Lopez makes a blink-and-you-miss-it cameo near the end of the movie, which has one misstep too many to be anything more than a guilty pleasure. --Jae-Ha Kim

Product Description

From producer Jennifer Lopez comes a danceable, dynamic story about the unifying power of the music within us all. When life in the South Bronx gets too hot for rapper Rob (Omarion Grandberry, You Got Served), he flees to Puerto Rico and a father he never knew. After half-brother Javi introduces Rob to the seductive rhythms of Reggaeton, the two find that their music, and cultures, have more in common than they ever imagined. But to bring their musical hybrid to the world, can they survive the grudges and gunplay that await them back in New York City? To find out, grab the disc, watch the film and Feel the Noise.

1.0 out of 5 stars JLo should stick to being pretty..., March 16, 2008
I had to force myself not to throw this one away. I am an avid movie watcher and tend to watch simply for entertainment purposes. I try not to set my expectations too high and always try not to be critical of someone else's creativity. Having said that, I fall short on all points when it comes to this movie. There isn't a polite or nice way to evaluate it...IT SUCKS BIG TIME!!! After watching You Got Served, I thought Omarion did an okay job acting. Considering he's a singer he did better than many others who preceed him. Which makes me wonder why people at the hieght of their own craft would subject themselves to criticism for something that they don't "have to" do? It's like listening to an awful song on one of your favorite artists cd...you think to yourself...did they really think this was a good song when they were recording? If after reading a script, they feel as though it's something they want to be a part of, I can understand that. What I can't understand is, if after they start to filming, and they things aren't going too well - why don't they pull out or regroup?

Shame on JLo for allowing this to be released under her name. It's not like she needs something extra to win fans.

I definitely wouldn't recommend this movie for rent or purchase.

jennifer Lopez should stick to singing because this movie she directed is aweful and boring the previews make you think its all about dancing but its not there is like maybe 3 parts of dancing in it it is a waste of time to even watch it
