The picture depicted on amazon shows a box with neatly organized bobbins in the case. In reality it is quite difficult to maintain the depicted organization because the only thing separating the bobbins are the dividers between the columns of bobbins. There are no dividers for the rows. So if you pack this bobbin case with 30 bobbins and you go to pull one out, it can be difficult pulling just one bobbin out. Additionally if you cannot fill the box, your bobbins will move around in the case and the threads will tangle. However the case works well for holding needles and sewing foot attachments. Which is what I now must use it for. I later purchased a different bobbin box to hold my bobbins.

I recommend the Dritz Bobbin Box that holds 32 bobbins. It separates each individual bobbin. This box is beautiful with a dark blue bottom that allows you to easily see each color thread because the background is dark. And it has a clear snapping lid to see through the case. It organizes the bobbins well by keeping each individual bobbin separate and easy to grab when you need a specific bobbin.

It holds all my empty and prewound bobbins nicely so I'm not always hunting them down. It serves its purpose. It takes up less space than the bobbin caddy I have made by Clover (the one that you snap the wound bobbins into).

I'd like to counter the 2 reviewers that were surprised the box was coming without bobbins. Bobbin boxes don't normally come with bobbins so please don't give a product one star because you assumed they would! If you had looked at either the picture or description you could have figured out what you were buying.

This is a nice box but I also got the Dritz box and it is a bit nicer, in my opinion. Take a look at the Dritz box also before you decide. Neither box comes with bobbins, though I don't why anyone would think they did.

Box holds your bobbins, not neatly, but together. There's no separator in each row to keep bobbins in place, so if you have fewer bobbins than a full row, they'll slide around or fall over. It's a bit annoying to try to fish out the one that fell sideways after you've opened up some space by removing one. I ended up buying a different box from Dritz that had little cups that held each bobbin individually. This one is being used for specialty sewing feet instead.

This bobbin box, if that's what you want to call it, is okay and gets the job done, because it holds the bobbins. However, the major problem with this bobbin box is this: it does not have a separate compartment for each bobbin; and thus, the bobbins with threads get tangled.

Being that the bobbins still uncoil in this box, my problems with tangled threads still exist. This bobbin box actually is no different than a small little generic box that I currently have that holds bobbins, because it still gets tangled with other bobbins threads.

If I had done a proper research, I would not have bought this because there are better bobbin boxes than this (i.e., bobbin boxes that have a compartment for each bobbin). Therefore, if you are looking for a bobbin box, buy one that has a compartment for each bobbin, for it will be MORE ORGANIZED and make your job much easier.

All in all, this bobbin box is not terrible (it's nice) because it holds bobbins and other small sewing tools; however, the lack of compartment is the problem, because threads are not properly secured.

Ok, it's a bobbin holder. It holds them just fine when it is full. The lid stays closed and I initially thought this gave it a huge advantage over my other bobbin holder. However, when this one is not full, the bobbins roll all around and tangle up. When it is full, you need a tool to get the one you want out. Or just very, very small fingers. A second small problem, if you have so many bobbins that you need to purchase cases to store them in, it is likely that you would want to be able to see what color thread you have on your bobbins quickly and with accuracy. This case is not clear transparent, so you have to open the lid. This, in turn, negates the benefit of having a lid that stays closed. In writing the review I realize, this bobbin holder case is perfect for holding a full load of bobbins you don't really use much and have little intention of using any time soon and so don't have any need to see clearly. Ofcourse, I can think of a lot of things around my house that would also be up to that challenge.

It's nice to have somewhere to store my bobbins.
However, if you don't have enough boobins to fill the entire box right away, they do roll around as there are no small grooves or dividers to hold each bobbin in place. Overall, it is better then storing them loosly in a jar or sewing box and end up with a speghetti tangled mess of thread.

I do a lot of sewing and quilting. To save time I have a lot of pre-wound bobbins with different colors. Over the years as the number of bobbins grew so did my collection of bobbin boxes. I used this bobbin box for a few years, and it has a number of aspects I liked. However, several factors below made me switch to a different storage solution included below as well. I hope you will find my comments and an alternate solution useful:

I liked

1) I liked that I can see the color of the threads without having to take bobbins out
2) The 30 bobbin box is relatively small so I kept it on my sewing sewing table while I worked

I did not like

1) As my collection of bobbins grew, I had more bobbins than fit into this box as well as a couple of other
separate holders
2) All the holders got in my way, found myself always moving them around

I found an alternative solution that works for me better. I use one of my thread racks like this one 120 Spool Wood Thread Rack - By Threadart for bobbins. The rack hangs on the wall, so it is accessible but to-tally out of the way. I can fit three bobbins on every peg. So I dedi-cated three rows to bobbins with three bobbin on top of each, organized by color (light, medium, dark on each peg for that color). The colors are easy to see and bobbins are well organized, so when I need a shade I know exactly where to find it.

Overall I give it 4 stars because it works fine especially if you have less than 30 bobbins. If you have a ton of bobbins then check out the thread rack solution. Happy Sewing!
