I bought an Omnigrid 6" x 24" quilting ruler with a 40% off coupon from a crafting chain. It's okay, but it slips, necessitating the additional purchase of some grippy stuff. C'mon!

I saw the Olfa ruler, same size, for a good price at Stuff 4 Scrapbooking and I like it SO much better! Clear, easy-to-read markings and the non-slip backing make it a pleasure to use. Huge improvement!

Don't know what to do with the Omnigrid, but that's my problem.

This ruler is a great idea. The 'frosted' feature really allows clear view of the ruler markings. It also seems to have some anti-slipping coating. I recommend it.

Measurement line problem

I have purchased two of these rulers and found that the lines between 6 and 12 inches are off by around 1/32 of an inch. I ordered both of the rulers from Amazon and didn't realize that there was a problem with the first one until it was too late to return it. So, I ordered the second one and found the same problem and returned it promptly.

I found the problem with the ruler one day when I was just fooling around and put this ruler up against the OLFA 6 x 24 inch ruler and noticed the lines were off. Then I checked the OLFA 6 x 24 inch ruler against my Omnigrid 6 x 24 inch ruler and found the lines matched just fine. However, while the OLFA 6 x 24 inch ruler's marking lines are fine, it is about 1/8 of an inch longer below the 24th inch than the Omnigrid ruler. Apparently, quality control at the OLFA is not what it should be.

No more slip and slide! Highly recommended over Omnigrid.

I first bought the 6.5" square ruler, and after testing it out I now have a few different sizes of these Olfa Frosted Advantage rulers. Previously I was using an Omnigrid 4x18" ruler, but never liked it which is why I did not purchase more sizes until I could find a brand I liked. Here are some of the differences:

- Olfa Frosted Advantage will stay put so much better on fabric than the slip-and-sliding Omnigrid. They don't grip as some rulers do (which would make them difficult to adjust); instead they will glide enough when you need them to, but stay pretty well put when you hold them down to either mark or rotary cut your fabric. With Omnigrid it would never stay put! The only way I could get it to stay put was laying my fabric on the floor and kneeling on the ruler while I marked/cut.

- Olfa Frosted Advantage rulers have more markings per inch along both vertical and horizontal lines than the Omnigrid so you can make more accurate markings & cuts.

- Olfa Frosted Advantage rulers are so much easier to see through than Omnigrid, and the markings are much clearer. The Omnigrid has a super shiny surface which makes it difficult to see the lines in any light, but especially if you are in a bright room or have a light nearby; it reflects off the surface and you need to position yourself over the ruler to make a shadow so you can see the lines. Olfa surface is matte so glare is not an issue.

- These rulers are easily utilized by either right or left handed users. The markings go around all 4 sides so you can just turn it to the side that suits you.

- The markings on all 4 sizes I have are accurate. (6.5x6.5", 6x24", 12.5x12.5", 1.25x12.5")

Overall I would recommend the Olfa Frosted Advantage ruler in any size that suits your purposes.

Best ruler yet! Easier to see through than Omnigrid rulers.

I have been quilting for over 20 years. I switched to OLFA rulers after seeing how much easier it is to see dark fabrics through them. The older OLFA rulers would sometimes get a static charge to them & I would have to keep a dryer sheet nearby to rub on them, but this one doesn't do that. It is so easy to see all colors & get a really accurate cut. Also, it slips less than other rulers! It doesn't have a grippiness like the film that you can add to rulers yourself (& then can't reposition them easily).

Ruler sucked, but AMAZON WAS AWESOME!

I don't know what happened, but I had to send this back. It obviously wasn't a OLFA brand. The tag was ripped off, and the sides look as though they had been chewed off, they were so rough and chipped, and uneven! I have bought several OLFA products from Amazon with no problem. As usual Amazon was amazing to deal with, and refunded my money within hours of dropping the package off at UPS!! I HEART AMAZON

I love this ruler. I'm a beginner and not a quilter but wanted this ruler to help me with straight lines and measurements. It's met my expectations and beyond. It's so clear and easy to measure. Cutting fabric is no longer an annoying chore. It doesn't really slip for me and I love how clear it is to see. I checked out the ones with the yellow writing at my local store but I found the yellow really distracting and actually harder to see so I bought this one instead. I kind of wish I bought a longer version but my storage situation prevented that.
