There are 30 different colors and there seems to be equal amounts of all the colors. I posted a picture of the beads sorted out into a bead box in the customer photos section. Sorting them can be tedious.
They're super fun for all ages; my roommates and I are all in our mid to late 20s and we're constantly making things with them. The jar comes with sheets of ironing paper and instructions. The only things you need to get separate are pegboards and an iron.
These are the peg boards: Perler Beads Clear Square Pegboards 4 Pack
This is the bead box we got to go with them (it is the perfect size and just the right amount of compartments): Darice 1157-11 No Spill Organizer 13.7-Inch-by-8.6-Inch-by-1.37-Inch

I recently started to make video game sprites out of perler beads. The one thing I noticed with all of these reviews is that no one listed what the 30 colors that are included in this jar actually are. (And this is very important if you want to buy in bulk like this jar) I figured it was best if I just posted a picture of the individual colors, so all of you can just see for yourselves. Please see the images of this product for the remainder of this review. This product is awesome as far as value and quality goes, but as other reviewers have stated, sorting is...tedious. They do include 3 large pieces of ironing papers as well. I hope this helps beaders now and in the future!

Love these! My daughter and I have had so much fun being creative with these beads. They're durable and melt together well. It's a little difficult to find the colors you need for a given project in this huge bucket but after painstakingly separating them we discovered there were 30 different colors, so that's a great selection for a great price. I would definitely recommend these if you're just buying some to play around with but maybe not for specific projects, especially if they're larger ones.

22,000 Perler beads. Wondering how much that is? I dumped my jug out into three empty buckets from the Sunny Days, Sea Life, and 6000 bead buckets. The jug filled all three up to the brim. Lots of great colors and after sorting one bucket I took a picture. This is one third of the original jug of 22,000 Perler Beads sorted into an empty Darice No Spill organizer box. It seems that there is an equal amount of beads of each of 30 colors. I am now on my second jug and this the by far the cheapest way to get them. Also when I shopped around in my local area, Walmart carried no perler beads at all in their craft section, and JoAnn Fabrics sold the very same jug for $24.99, a full ten dollars more than it currently sells for on Amazon. I have not been able to beat the prices on Amazon for any of the Perler items.
