Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Thanks to its Saeco Brewing System (SBS), this super-automatic espresso machine can make an infinite variety of coffee drinks at the twist of a dial. Choose from the strongest ristretto shot with a thick crema to a milder coffee with less crema. The SBS dial adjusts the amount of pressure in the brewing chamber for controlling the strength and extraction for each cup brewed. The unit automatically grinds the right amount of coffee, tamps, brews, and dispenses used grounds into an internal dregdrawer, all at the push of a button.

In addition, the machine's ceramic disc grinder offers seven different settings for easily adjusting the strength of the coffee, plus delivers an even grind to ensure perfect dosing and blending, giving users more control over the density and body of the coffee. Its Saeco Aroma System injects a small amount of hot water into freshly ground coffee right before the brewing process in order to extract the best aromas and flavors from the grounds. Even more, Rapid Steam technology reduces the normal waiting time between brewing coffee and steam output to just a few seconds. Use the steam and hot-water wand to froth milk for cappuccinos and lattes, or to dispense hot water for Americanos, tea, hot chocolate, and other drinks.

Adjustable to fit almost any size cup, the unit's dual-spout dispensing head can accommodate 4-ounce espresso cups or 8-ounce coffee mugs. For taller cups, the dispensing head can even be shifted back or easily removed to open a third spout located under the mounting piece. Other highlights include a 68-ounce removable water tank, an Aqua Prima water filter, 15-bar pump pressure, indicator lights, a cup-warming surface, and a slide-out drip tray, as well as a removable brew group for easy rinsing and chemical-free cleaning and a swivel base for convenient accessibility to all the components. Accessories include a cleaning brush, a brew-group key, a water-test strip, a priming pump, an Aqua Prima water filter and applicator, an instructional manual, and a quick-start guide. The 1300-watt espresso machine measures 15-1/2 by 12 by 15 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Editor's note: This is a reconditioned small appliance. Reconditioned generally means that the appliance has been returned to the manufacturer, who returns the appliance to like-new condition. Some appliances may contain cosmetic blemishes.

Product Description

The new Saeco Incanto Rondo is the best choice for a compact fully automatic espresso machine - not only for its innovative design, but also for its easy operation. The innovation starts in the control panel with the chrome dial that allows you to regulate the quantity of coffee (1-8 oz) brewed for each cup, by simply turning the dial from left to right.  The new long-lasting ceramic grinder provides a more controlled grind, ensuring a perfect dose every time you brew. In addition, this new patented grinder won't rust, never needs to be sharpened, and is virtually noise-free. The 12-gram removable brew group now offers an even greater variety of taste and intensity for your coffee.  With all these innovations, it is easy to prepare and customize cappuccinos, lattes and any other drink you desire, exactly to your taste.

5.0 out of 5 stars Starbucks in my Kitchen! AMAZING!, April 5, 2009
By M. C. Hernandez "Coffee Lover" (Olathe, KS United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This machine is so worth every penny you will pay for it, and will reward you back with the most amazing coffee you have ever tasted. Honestly, you can put the cheapest no-name coffee beans in this machine, and the coffee that comes out of it is beyond belief fantastic! It is every bit as good, if not better, than any cup of Starbucks I have ever tasted.

It does have some maintenance requirements that are different from your average $19 coffee maker you get at Walmart, but the maintenance is well worth it.

This machine is a power-house - we are a family of 9 and several of us are coffee-drinkers. This thing keeps going and going all day long - cup after cup - each cup tasting as great as the previous - freshly ground and perfectly delicious.

The only downfall I can warn you about is that this machine will make you a coffee snob -- once you have a cup or two of this amazingly fresh ground coffee, it is hard to go back to drinking your average everyday Mr. Coffee cup of coffee...

Long and short - it's just an amazing machine and makes a perfect cup of coffee. It is well worth the price,so dive in and get it! You only live once, and heaven knows it's hard to get a good cup of coffee these days (without paying an arm and a leg!) If you drink coffee daily, you deserve this machine, you'll use it, and you'll never regret the purchase.

2.0 out of 5 stars A Persnickety Little Machine, December 25, 2008
By K. Rule (Beaverton, OR USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
My wife has had a Saeco Magic Deluxe for several years. It's been a reliable workhorse for her given her fairly heavy use. She had to have it rebuilt about 3 years ago and it's probably getting time again to have it worked over.

Rather than having to rebuild her old Saeco, I thought it might be time to upgrade her to a smaller, more modern machine. So, I ordered her a refurbished Saeco Incanto for Christmas. The machine arrived in about 2 weeks and was well packaged and appeared to be in good shape.

Given that it was refurbished, I thought it would be prudent to check it out when I received it in Mid December. After much fiddling and a couple of calls to Saeco customer support, it was clear that the refurbished unit arrived DOA. I've never had good experience with refurbished units and my paranoia turned out to be warranted.

Saeco has a reasonable warranty for refurbished units however, they don't pay for shipping. Given that I purchased a DOA refurbished unit they made an exception and paid for shipping to have the unit repaired. Luckily, the repair depot was able to resolve the issue and get the machine back in time for Christmas.

We set it up on Christmas eve. The Incanto machine is impressively small when compared to the Magic Deluxe. However, smaller means a smaller water reservoir, a smaller bean feeder and a smaller internal grounds bin. This means the machine requires much more maintenance than its larger and more reliable brother. The machine is also very, very persnickety. If it isn't pristinely cleaned or you haven't shaken the machine to make sure the beans are correctly feeding into the hopper the machine won't work. You just get a solid red error LED. My experience is that the failures are rarely obvious and require much fiddling to sort out.

In comparison the Magic Deluxe just works - no fiddling required.
Frankly, the Incanto is mildly disappointing. Yes, it works - eventually. It is just not the smooth, robust experience I expected from Saeco.

Pros:
* It's surprisingly compact.
* It's easy to understand how to operate
* Saeco customer support is always top notch,

Cons:
* It's very persnickety about running. It fails often and it's usually not very obvious what's wrong.
* You will probably need to put Saeco customer support on speed dial.

We are keeping the Incanto. This is because we have a vacation home and my wife thinks it's good enough for there. However, it's clearly not the replacement for the Magic Deluxe that I had hoped it would be.

I'm hoping that we get used to the Incanto's quirky personality and are able to find work arounds for it's frequent errors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Coffee brewer, March 2, 2009
The Saeco is an awesome Coffee brewing system and once I'd figured out the instructions everything's gone great.

Tips
1) order extra water filters
2) when the right hand red light goes on it means you have to
a) leave the machine on
b) open the front door
c) remove the drip tray & used coffee grounds bin
d) wash those out
e) grab the mechanism inside by the finger grips, squeeze slightly and pull to remove
d) wash that mechanism to clean any grounds (you don't need to remove any of its parts)
e) slide the mechanism from (e) back in (it will lock in place)
f) slide the drip tray w/empty coffee ground bin back in
g) close the door (and the right light should go out automatically)
NOTE: the above wasn't all clear from the manual <g>

Anyway, this machine makes great coffee or expresso, the frother works really well also.
