Highly recommended, May 9, 2008
After considerable research online, we chose this model of convection/microwave vent hood for our kitchen remodel.
WOW.
Let me reiterate.
WOW!
Being a 'car guy' automove similies seem to fit here, so I'll just say that this oven is like a balanced, blueprinted race motor in your kitchen. Sleek, powerful, responsive. We researched several vendors, and believe me, reviews and feedback are VERY important;and when ordered, the unit was delivered within 4 days. Packaging was secure and unit arrived without incident. Documentation was excellent, installation was straightforward and took less time than expected. Performance has been flawless, just as advertised. The controls are well thought out and logically placed. We really appreciate the multiple levels of lighting and fan speeds, and the accessories packaged with the unit all work well. Large interior volume makes for LOTS of options, touch screen menus are simple to navigate. The styling is both contemporary
and reminiscent of streamline moderne esthetics. The unit is quite heavy and will require at least two strong people to install, and the price is rather hefty, also. We feel, however, that we have gotten great value with this unit.

Won't last 2 years, May 5, 2009
It's OK, does the job well . . .for a couple of years. Just made it past warranty and the infamous F7 HV SMPS Feedback error occurred. This problem with Whirlpool ovens is all over the web. I dread the cost of the repair. I'd avoid it. I've had great luck with Sharp microwaves in the past, and I regretfully got stuck with this dog with a new condo purchase. I'll probably switch back to Sharp. Addendum: had it repaired. The magnetron and 2 circuit boards had to be replaced. The magnetron has no moving parts- a solid state item that should last decades. If whirlpool can't get this right on a high end product, what can one say about anything they make? Again- not only this, but it seems one should avoid all whirlpool products. However, when I contacted whirlpool with my concerns, they did provide the parts (not labor) even though it was just out of warranty (ONE YEAR? For a high end product like this?)

AWESOME!, January 30, 2009
We're remodeling so have had nothing to cook with for the past 2 weeks except this microwave and a small 11" electric skillet. This microwave is absolutely amazing! It came with 2 wire stands, one low and one high profile, the sizzle pan, with handle for when it's hot, and a fairly large casserole w/ steamer insert. The touch screen is interactive and easy to use. The "sensor cooking" feature works very well. The control panel takes just the slightest touch and is very accurate. There are MANY preprogrammed options, but you can easily operate it manually in any mode as well.
I have a busy life, full time job w/ 1 hr commute each way and 3 young boys (as of this date 01/30/09 they are 6, 3 and 18 mos.) When they are hungry, they are hungry! We have been eating a lot of frozen pizzas which would normally gross me out to have to eat so I was very skeptical. However, have been very impressed with the results. You put the sizzle pan up on the high stand and use the interactive touch screen to find the frozen pizza menu where you select thick or thin crust and also the diameter of the pizza. Then it tells you which rack to use and to place that w/ the sizzle pan in the microwave to preheat. It preheats for 3 minutes, then beeps and tells you to put in the pizza, then touch Continue. It takes about 8 minutes for a 9" thin crust, so give or take depending on your pizza. I haven't had time to watch it run through an entire cylce, but have noticed that it apparantly runs through different cooking phases ending with one that bubbles/browns the cheese. The texture isn't 100% perfect, but much better than any microwaved pizza I've ever experienced before. If you don't like your pizza really brown you will want to keep a close watch on it - it cooks on the "hot" side. The first couple we made came out almost burnt looking.
The lighting (it has a nightlite feature) and fan speed options are excellent and when used as a range hood (over my little electric skillet) it has done an excellent job drawing in steam and grease. The grease filters can go in the dishwasher. The charcoal filters will be replacedevery so often as necessary.
With nothing else to really cook in/on, I've not had time to risk experimenting so haven't tried the broil, convection bake, or grilling features. If they work as well as what I've experienced thus far I'll be completely satisfied. This appliance has been an absolute JOY to own. It has a "most frequently used" menu that has "learned" what we cook most often and placed them there for easier access - it will change as our needs change. It also has a kids menu that my 6 (almost 7) yr old has enjoyed using since it's "just for him". It has programs for Easy Mac, hot dogs, pizza, pizza rolls - just to name a few.
If you decide to splurge on this microwave, I doubt you'll be sorry! I certainly am not!!!
