Bob Clearmountain (legendary producer)
"...brilliant, insightful songwriting, energy that never stops and a serious rock voice with a raw attitude to match!"
About the Artist
Influenced by artists such as Trent Reznor, Shirley Manson, Radiohead, U2, the Pretenders and Nirvana, LANDON's music is also touched by her real life experiences: pain, faith, spirituality and the various people she encounters through life. LANDON was born and raised in Texas. The former teenage model left that life behind, turned down college and at the age of 18, packed up her car (and her college fund) and headed for Los Angeles to pursue her musical dreams. "I wrote songs when I was a little girl on the playground," she explains. "I would dance, sing and act on stage for anyone...but to share my most intimate thoughts was more intimidating than getting shoved into lockers. Now, I am unbridled...!" After arriving in Los Angles, LANDON befriended the stepdaughter of legendary producer Bob Clearmountain (Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Pretenders, and many others). Clearmountain heard LANDON's music and decided to help her achieve her musical dreams. "I met Alex (Clearmountain's stepdaughter) at a housewarming party," LANDON says. "Meeting her and being introduced to Bob was career changing. Bob and his wife Betty have been a second family to me in Los Angeles. I still can't believe people like them can exist in this industry."
It is worth noting, as the experience strongly contributed to LANDON's inner strength and determination, that she is a survivor of cancer. "I like keeping my private life private and letting my lyrics tell the story," LANDON states. "I am a survivor of cancer, and the battle and effects of the disease lasted six years. I was on auto-pilot to get through it...staying positive and motivated through my music and faith kept me fighting. I am thick-skinned now and unafraid to express myself. Some of it came with growing into a woman, but the majority of my strength was maintaining my character and integrity when giving up or numbing myself would have been so easy." Because of the intense life experiences, LANDON's music reflects a maturity and intensity not usually found coming from someone so young. Of her songwriting process, LANDON reveals, "I write each song differently. Sometimes it starts with lyrics, sometimes a melody I have stuck in my head or sometimes banging on the piano for hours while drinking wine. I am a storyteller...however, every story is based on truth and experience. One thing you always get from me is realness. No need to fabricate...I couldn't have dreamed up some of the chutes and ladders in my life. "I want to make people feel," she continues. "I want to share my art, and influence people to take it and use it in their own way. Some people are moved by a story, some people a direct relation to an experience. Some just appreciate insightful lyrics and the dynamic musical compositions."
