My 3 year 2 month old granddaughter loves to play with Play-Doh and I have a few different sets. This is not one that I would recommend. Here's why.

1. While this set boasts on having 30 pieces, many of them are repetitive or difficult to use. To me it's more a marketing technique rather than anything that facilitates a child having fun. This set could easily be reduced to 10 pieces.

2. I agree with other reviews that some of the pieces are difficult to use, and worse a real pain to clean. In fact it's almost impossible to get all the Play-Doh out of the main "press", with the result that the leftover Play-Doh hardens and makes it more difficult to use the next time. And I certainly don't like something that is guaranteed to deplete the supply of Play-Doh little by little due to the difficulty in cleaning.

3. For what this set costs, you're better off buying the Play-Doh separately and a few simple molds.

Bottom line: The only thing "deluxe" about this set is the price. Take a pass on this one.

Bought this for my daughters 4th birthdays! Really disappointed in Amazon and the seller. You should be ashamed of yourself! I thought I purchased a new product. The yellow play-doh had other colors mixed in with it. The purple play-doh was not even purple and looked like it had mold on it, really!!!! There was Kleenex stuffed on top of it and it was all crumbly. Many of the fun factory pieces had Play-doh stuck to them.

In response to the reveiwer that stated that the item is cheaper at toysrus, I wanted to first say "thanks!!" for the tip but also let people know that if your local store doesn't have it in stock (which mine didn't), buying it from amazon ends up being the same as [...] because of the $8 shipping that [...] adds on. I am a Amazon Prime customer so I don't pay shipping on this item. I would rather buy from Amazon if price is equal due the superior customer service that I have received from Amazon in the past.

This is a great group of Play-Doh and accessories. Bright fun colors, lots of rollers cutters and shape makers, not to mention the awesome press! I always loved that part of Play-Doh fun as a kid, and what'ya know my 6 year old does too! She plays with this set for long stretches of time without getting bored. It paid for itself on day one!

This set came with 8 tubs of play-doh, so don't go buying extra for them to use with this set! The main attraction is the stapler-looking thing that cranks out long, noodly-shapes. It has three strips of shapes. My complaint about this is that a lot of the doh seeps into really hard-to-clean crevices and, if cranked too hard, more than one shape. The set also contains a roller that cuts straight lines, wavy lines, and dotted lines. It's tricky for kids to figure out, but once they do, they can use it to make roads, strips, etc.

The majority of the items in this set are cookie cutters--animals, a family, and some shapes. My two-year-old and three-year-old enjoy this, but I was a tiny bit disappointed that there's just one "big" item in here to play with...ah, sharing!

My kids will sit and play this set for an hour or so. It's a great buy, worth $17.99. Included in this set i got are over 27 pieces cutters, no repetition (family-dad/mom/boy/girl/baby, Christmas tree/Gingerbread man, pet/jungle/sea animals, two-shape cutter handles where you insert over the roller with four others to create a nice cutter). Also a press with 2 extruder rails (with 10 patterns), 1 trimmer plastic knife, 1 roller (which isn't great when you have two kids, glad at least i have the same roller from other play doh set). Plus 6 good size can of play doh, Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, Purple & Orange. Very good variety in this set. Enough to keep my 3 yr old daughter and 4 yrs old son (turning 5) occupied. I taught them to immediately put the play doh in the can after play so it doesn't dry out. I don't really have to clean the cutters at all, maybe the alligator cutter occasionally will have play doh stuck in the tail. The biggest task is to clean the press/extruder every use to avoid mixed up of colors. My son is getting use to removing play doh stuck in it, the way i do it but my daughter can't clean it that good so i really need to help them clean.

I bought this set for my son when he was about 3 1/2. He is 4 now. It is okay. I really like all the cookie cutters. However, the presser thing that makes ropes is a pain to use. My soon has difficulty putting the templates on it himself, and too much Play-Doh gets stuck in it. Then, it dries and the template is more difficult to use. So you have to carefully clean it each time. The rollers in the set are pretty useless. They are light-weight plastic rollers with no handles; they are just tubes. So, my son can't use those effectively either.

For Christmas I bought my son the Melissa and Doug set with wood rolling pins and blocks. He is able to use the pins and blocks by himself, and therefore he has more fun. He uses the cookies cutters from this set along with his M&D tools. So, combined the tools from both sets make a nice Play-Doh set a 4 year old can use with little supervision. (The downside of the M&D set I bought was no cookie cutters, and the play-doh in it isn't as good as the brand Play-Doh.)
