Let me be clear on this. I had no choice but to get a DI Box for my home recording studio. My ACTIVE bass guitar was wayyy too hot to plug directly into my interface....it would clip in the red even with my bass guitar volume turned almost all the way down; which hurt my bass's responsiveness and dynamics. With this little unit; now I have plenty of headroom with the attentuator set at 12 o'clock. I just plug my bass into one of the instrument jacks, an XLR out the back into my interface...with my bass turned all the way up and with very little clipping now. Hope this helps.

Works.

I love the compact size of this unit and the ability to mount it. You can dial it back to infinity (no signal out) meaning you can pretty much run anything into it, including speaker level signals they. Never had cause to try that but it could imagine this feature being a quick fix device worthy of having on hand when something unexpected arises. Nice that you have total dial control over the amount pad and are not bound by the 1 or 2 reduction options you get with switches on other boxes. Would be 5 star home run product if you could adjust the signal from infinity all the way up to 0 (unity- no pad) for those times when your input device does not want/need a -20db pad; such as on an acoustic guitar with passive or piezo pickups. Fantastic device! Every engineer should have at least 1 in his kit.
Perfect for taking the output from an iPod, iPhone, or computer, and running
It into your console. This new model is better than the previous generation,
Because now you have a "volume" knob instead of the old 3 position switch.
Just remember, this is not a true stereo unit. The box combines the left and right
channels, and gives you a single, balanced, XLR output.
I have had a couple of the previous models that are still working fine,
after 15 years, and I see no reason to believe that these will be any different.
If you need something like this, buy it! You won't be sorry.

Bought this direct box to use in church for plugging in acoustic guitars directly into the house PA; so far it's worked great! It's smaller than some other DIs I've seen, with the flexibility of two inputs, three-setting attenuator and ground lift switch. It's also very reasonably priced at Amazon.

The DB25b is a great little direct box. I've been using them for years at my church and just bought 3 more. They work great for guitar and keyboard intputs. To top it off they are very inexpensive.

Mine was dead on arrival. It shafted me twice the first two times when I tried to use it and it didn't work. It's a simple passive device, what could go wrong? I popped it open and took a look for myself. General build quality is cheap, one notch above junk. I examined the solder joints with a hand held microscope and the joint quality was pretty bad. Cold solder joints all over the place. You could see where the solder was not adhering to the leads of the transformer and the connectors. Even worse one of the solder pads for one of the transformer leads was broken from the pc board trace leading to it, a nearly invisible defect that was hard to find. After fixing that I did an A/B test to listen to how transparent it wounded. I have 50 year old drummers ears and even to me, it was easy to hear that this unit smeared the sound, not horribly, but certainly noticeably. I really wanted to like this, but I can't. This is the second Rolls device I've purchased. Both were DOA.

This unit was dead on arrival. Don't waste your money. Get a Rapco LTI Box instead. It has a volume control and a cord attached to it.
