I bought this bulb in spite of the unfavorable reviews on the color this bulb emits. But, after using this bulb for several weeks, I can say that the color is as advertised- 5500K, more bluish than yellowish.

It's very close to the same color as my previous bulb. I'm not sure if the other reviewers were expecting a different color, or if they received the wrong (or perhaps defective) bulb. For the price, I was quite impressed!

I find these bulbs work just fine. They are bright and the daylight 5500K is nice in my aquarium. I see no different between these bulbs and the more expensive ones, except the better price. Nice to have a competitor to the brand I've always used in the past.

I found that I had way more algae growth with these bulbs despite the fact that I do weekly water changes. I felt like I was scrubbing constantly and my snails weren't keeping up. They definitely emit more of a yellowish color which did not look good with my white and bi-colored goldfish (it made them look yellow instead of white). In my tank with gravel, it brings out the yellow color in the gravel and in photos it kind of looks like canned corn instead of rocks. I used to use these all the time when I had more plants in my tank as it seemed to help their growth more than other bulbs, but if you're keeping plastic decorations or bare bottom I wouldn't recommend these lights as they seem to accentuate all the flaws you might not otherwise notice.
