These are waterproof, but the material is quite thin so there is not a lot of cold weather insulation. Sooooo, great for rain as long as it is not too cold.

As many have noted, these socks often are not leak proof. The problem is that they are a four piece construction and sometimes they are shipped without the factory sealed seam treatment. This is a production error and those responsible will probably be flogged.

My first pair were not sealed. I just got another pair and they were seam sealed and did not leak when I tested them by filling with water.

They are not "socks". They are booties and due to the seams, require socks be worn. However; if you turn them inside out, they are smoother and can be worn sans socks but they are warmer with socks. I wear cycling socks which wick moisture away from the foot.

Other Gore cycling products like Goretex jackets and Goretex pants have all positive reviews. However; the socks must be inspected immediately on receipt and returned to Amazon until you get a pair which are sealed. I recommend buying them only with Amazon Prime for a rapid guaranteed refund or replacement.

I wear a 9.5 shoe and these (9.5 to 10.5) booties leave plenty of room for thin cycling socks but with a thick sock it is too tight for the 9.5 shoe.

I am an avid cyclist who has put in 12,000+ miles so far this year in upstate New York. For me, as it has gets cold, my hands and feet are the things that start to decrease my enjoyment. I bought these socks after a friend told me Gore Tex made socks. I was expecting them to be good. I wasn't expecting them to be truly amazing. They have completely changed my cold weather cycling experience. My feet now stay warm to 30 degrees with NO overshoe covering my cycling shoe. For hours. As the temperature dips into the 20s, I usually add an overshoe on my cycling shoe to these and I am good for hours of riding. No lie. These simple socks have transformed my cycling experience. Simply keeping the wind off my feet as made all the difference. I cannot recommend these enough and am online today to buy another pair for a spare.

I bicycle commute every day, in Western Washington, where it rains a lot! This is my second pair of Gore Gore-Tex socks. The other ones got a small hole in the toe after about 3 years of daily wear, and they still work pretty well in all but the rainiest days.

I find that waterproof socks are way better than shoe covers for keeping you dry, and these do the trick excellently. When they are new, they are tight at the top, but they do loosen up nicely after a while. They don't loosen so much that they are saggy, just so they are a bit easier to get on and off.

I wear a size 8 - 9 women's shoe, and the 5 - 6 size fits me perfectly. I wear them over medium or heavy weight SmartWool socks, depending on how cold it is. The combo keeps my feet warm and dry.

I highly recommend these!

I think these are amazing, I love mine and feel everyone should own a pair. I usually wear these when there's a combination of water on the ground and temperatures below 60F. Worn with a merino sock is the ultimate combo of warmth and breathability. I really enjoy the satisfaction of hosing the mud off my shoes then removing these socks to dry warm feet. my friends will all be getting these for christmas. I use these for xc mtb riding, trail running, and walking.

Took on one ride so far. I'm a 10 1/2 normally but with some sort of liner - figured 11. These are loose above the heel, tight at the top. I was able to bunch the "sock" at the back so I had no size issues on a 25 mi ride. Performance wise, I had these, SmartWool liners, and PI toe covers in place and I'm afraid to say my toes were about the same level of cold as when I wore my SmartWool winter wool socks and the PI toe covers. I really bought them for wet rides and to that we'll have to wait.

I've taken them out three times. In my environment I'm going to set these aside for rain only applications. Be sure you have room in your shoe for these, if you restrict the circulation of blood in your feet then you have negated the value of insulation.

These are more like booties than socks. I haven't used them, yet, but I can hardly imagine them inside bike shoes or my running shoes. They seem much more stiff and bulky than I expected. I later bought some SealSkinz socks that are supposed to be waterproof and they are much more like regular socks. Haven't used them yet, either, but there is supposed to be a big storm tomorrow, so maybe I'll try them out.

I bought these Goretex socks to provide some warmth and moisture protection for my ventilated summer boots. They have done exactly that. They are not insulated, but stop the wind and thus help my regular sock act as insulation. They are pricey based on size. Most common size is expensive.
