I purchased this prior to returning to work from maternity leave. However, I ended up using it even before that during a long drive to visit family one weekend. The adapter allowed me to pump while my husband drove and our little man snoozed in the back. I just threw on the nursing cover that I use for breastfeeding, and then hooked up to the light plug-in as we headed down the highway. I have a 2010 Pump in Style model and didn't notice a difference in the power as compared to the AC adapter. Now that I am back at work, this has come in handy when I needed to pump while at off-site meetings. I would suggest getting the Medla wipes if you are going to be using this in the car a lot...they make things a lot easier when there isn't access to water for cleaning.

Got this for my new pump in style. This is pretty comical, but my son's daycare is almost 30 minutes away, so I hop in the car to go get him, strap the pump on, plug it in, put on the hooter hider, and drive! Probably not the safest thing to do, but maybe some other desperate mothers can relate. This will be great for when we are on a roadtrip. It works great and I haven't noticed and suction/power difference from when I have had it plugged into the wall or the car! This is a great thing to have.

I wanted to buy this item because it was sold by Medela. Since I have an electric Medela breast pump, I wanted to be sure to get an adapter that was the same brand. However, this item does not appear to be made by Medela. It looks like a generic adapter that you could buy anywhere ("Medela" is not written or engraved anywhere on this item).

UPDATE: I have been using this item for more than two years and it still works. However, the connection between the charging end and the car is no longer as snug as it used to be. I'm guessing that is because over time the springs inside the adapter have gotten less flexible. Also, I forgot to mention in my initial review, but my breastpump's degree of suction is less when using this car adapter than if it were just plugged into a wall outlet. However, this is true for ALL car adapters, not just this one. The problem is easily fixed by turning my pump's suction level up a little bit.

I got both this and the battery pack for my medela pump. The car adapter is okay, but the suction strength is NOT as powerful as the battery pack or outlet; however, it works. I keep it with my pump for emergencies because a person just never knows when they might need it.

Just what I needed to express milk for my little one while at work. I think it's a law that your employer provide nursing mothers with an area to express but I just started this job and am too chicken to ask right now. So I purchased this product to express in my car on my meal break.

There is no lose of power/suction that you may think might happen when not plugged into an outlet. Don't forget you have to turn the key. I didn't have to have my car running but just turned that one turn before the car starts.
Product was delivered relatively quickly considering where we live.

I would recommend this for nursing mothers on the go.

Works well with my medela pump however it seems that the suction power is decreased at the same level therefore I need to crank up the machine to be similar to a wall outlet. This is a 9 volt adapter and i have a 9 volt machine.

This car adapter makes pumping on the go so much easier! I would much rather pump in my car than in a public setting. I don't mind pumping at a friend or family members house, but I would prefer not to do it in the stores. The thing with pumping is that you can't really wait, so you can need to make sure you are available to do it when that time comes. This adapter fit perfectly and allowed my breast pump to operate just fine.

I prepare everything in advance with a plastic zip bag labeled "clean" for all of my clean bottles and parts, and then a "dirty" bag for used bottles.
