Jamo's subwoofer lineup is comprised of more than just great looking, highly versatile, quality products; each member of the range can be combined with an existing Jamo sound system or another quality brand. Our subwoofers are specially designed to broaden your experience of low frequencies, from explosions and earthquakes to subtle musical nuances and dynamic peaks.
A number of things must be considered when matching a speaker system and a subwoofer: price, musical taste and preferences, as well as the acoustic characteristics of the speakers and the room. Jamo subwoofers feature a wide variety of controls, such as variable phase control and variable cut of frequency control. Starting with our Sub 550, our subwoofers feature boundary gain compensation (BGC), which filters excessive bass, giving you a flatter, more accurate bass response in the room. BGC gives you greater flexibility when choosing the subs’ location and your favorite listening position.
SUB 550: Beauty and the Bass
Combining stylish looks and remarkable accuracy, this powerful subwoofer combines a hardworking 10" long-throw woofer unit and a BASH(R) amplifier capable of delivering an awesome 550W of peak power, all packed together in a slotted port cabinet.
Capable of clearly reproducing frequencies as low as 26 Hz, the Jamo SUB 550 subwoofer delivers ultra-realistic performance at extremely high levels, while still maintaining musicality when delivering the lowest bass notes. This model is equipped with a front-mounted volume control for easy adjustment.
Because the SUB 550 reaches so low, it features a Boundary Gain Compensation switch, which compensates for room influences at low frequencies.
The Jamo Story
It's 1966. In the fishing village of Glyngore, Denmark, carpenter Preben Jacobsen begins building loudspeakers in his henhouse. Though blessed with great woodworking skills and broad knowledge of acoustic technology, Preben soon comes to realize that selling the remarkable speakers he's built is not his strength. In 1968, he brings his brother-in-law Julius Mortensen - an experienced salesman and exporter - into the mix, and Jamo is born.
