To be fair, cost wasn't much of an issue for me. The office purchased it, and it fit my esthetic and space requirements. I probably would have balked at $45 if I had paid personally, but still would have done it, and loved it. :)
There are 2 things to think of.
#1, What are you putting in it?
I am using it strictly as a paper organizer. We are a medical office and they have literally dozens of various forms for various insurances, and various "help sheets" for us to hand out. I had an organizer for 6 and found I was doubling and tripling some of them. Time for a new solution. If you are looking for a place to keep nothing but papers, figure it holds about a ream (ish) of paper per slot. There is a single bar running across the back of each row. It is impossible for a regular 8.5x11 paper to creep out the back or sides. There is NO front lip. For me, ideal. I need the ability to slide the papers out when patients come through or I'm making up charts. If you want to keep them from coming out easily, there is a slightly more expensive model with little baskets. No clue on quality of that one.
#2 How much versatility do you need?
We are literally using it for a regular sheet of paper per slot. If you need it for small papers, they may slip out the back or sides, if you need it for heavy items (on each shelf) you need something else. These are basically a light pressboard shelf held on by a couple of metal clips. They aren't going to hold a 10 pound weight in the middle of the shelf. Also the height of each shelf is uniform, but you get 12 slots. So you cant make 5 tiny shelves and 4 regular ones, etc. You can take away a shelf to make larger ones, but only in the width of the shelf (again, about a ream of paper worth).Read more ›

I needed an organizer that didnt look cheapy n plastic but that also accommodated for ever-changing amounts of paperwork and categories. This thing has been absolutely useful for my office! I can change the labels and adjust shelves when there's an overflow in one box and change it back when its not. As you can see, I have stacks of paperwork at any given time.
