I thought I was ordering the PC software and anetenna but when it arrived it was only the antenna. Useless without the software. The description says "Garmin Mobile PC - GPS KIT". Not the case. Garmin Mobile PC is the name of the software that they negelected to include. The receiver is just that, a receiver and should be labled accordingly. I requested and received a full refund.

I lost the original receiver (GPS 20) that came with the Garmin Mobile PC software purchased from Garmin. I was not aware that Garmin sold the Mobile PC software and receiver both as a package (receiver only working with the accompanying software) and another combination of software and receiver that could be interchanged (this software comes with a key code). Being oblivious to the 2 options I searched for best price on a replacement GPS receiver only. The vendor failed to mention or did not know of this potential problem. The replacement receiver I purchased was an exact duplicate of the original (grey rectangle) but the software would not recognize it. I contacted Garmin Tech Support who was very helpful but informed me of the problem. Since no key code came with my original Garmin PC package there was no way to configure the replacement GPS receiver. I could return the replacement GPS 20 and purchase another full package or buy the software only that comes with a key code. Garmin offered to sell me the software only with key at a reduced price that was comparable to the price of the full software with GPS receiver minus what I paid for the replacement GPS receiver. Bottom line I ended up buying the whole thing again although in pieces. Also I'm computer literate, but would never have found all the installed components and registry's to delete from the original install before being able to install and configure the new software and GPS receiver without Garmin's Tech Support help. On the positive side, I believe the new 2009 version of the software has upgraded maps from my original 2007 version. BTW I asked Garmin if I could upgrade the maps on this software later and answer was "no not on my version". Only on the deluxe version can maps be upgraded I was told. So beware, probably best to check with Garmin before buying this Mobile PC GPS. The GPS 20 receiver works perfectly with the new software but gave it 3 stars here because of the lack of information and hassle.
