Please remember that when you purchase a Pampered Chef item from anywhere OTHER THAN directly from a consultant, you end up with NO WARRANTY. So by buying this stone here on Amazon, you have no recourse if it breaks. If you purchase it through a Pampered Chef consultant, you get a 3 year warranty on it.

I agree with many reviews in that this pan is wonderful for roasting veggies, baking potatoe french fries, etc. However, for some reason, after a while, one day, you go to pick up the pan from the oven, and it is cracked....right down the middle. Very dangerous, and very upsetting at the price you pay. I have contacted Pampered Chef about this, and they will do nothing. Because it is over a year old. Really? So they are only supposed to last one year? Wow. I had another small casserole baking dish from Pampered Chef that the same thing happened recently, with a piece of chicken breast in it. Cracked right apart on the bottom. Same story of Pampered Chef. Not good customer service....almost rude. So, I am out quite a bit of money. Two pans at $35 each; and a dish at $20. Almost $100 out. Will I buy another one? Not if I can find something elsewhere. Other than that....it's a great pan.

After reading so many reviews about how this pan has broken, I thought I'd share my success. I bought this at a PC party over 8 years ago. The representative warned of putting in the oven while it's cold because it could break, so I've always preheated the pan with the oven. I guess this isn't conducive for many recipes, but for my uses it works. It's great for browning frozen foods that are baked such as french fries, turnovers, etc. I've made pizzas on it by putting the dough right on the hot surface, it gets nice and crispy.

I have moved between 3 residences with this pan. It gets stored in the oven on the bottom shelf even while the oven (but not the pan) is being used, and only occasionally removed when baking certain other things. Maybe this contributes to its longevity as it's not being banged about being put into a drawer or cabinet for storage.

I only occasionally wash or rinse it when visibly coated with food. It has black patina and never needs greasing due to absorbed oils.

In a nutshell: a superb product essential for baking and cooking I would recommend to everyone, had mine not shattered for no apparent reason after 4 months and gentle care. Pampered Chef will not replace it. Considerable investigation on the Internet including reviews here detail that this random shattering and cracking is a common affliction, so I can't recommend this bar pan.

I received the large bar pan from Pampered Chef as a greatly wished-for gift. I coveted the bar pan as soon as I saw how consistently cookies, roasted veggies, quesadillas, chicken breasts, and other meals came out. Stoneware distributes temperature evenly for excellent results. For example, cookies bake to moist doneness, rather than crisping at the edges and staying mushy in the middle. Stoneware has few of the problems with metallic sheets. Food doesn't stick and there is no need for non-stick sprays. Cleaning is a snap with a bit of water and, if necessary, a touch of olive oil. Successive uses season the stone, imparting a richer flavour to everything used. Drizzle with a bit of olive oil over your meat and set in the oven per recipe instructions, and you're good to go.

The bar pan is heavy, solid, and about the size of a normal cookie sheet. It weighs substantially more and received a prize place in my cabinets. Mine remained in storage until I moved into my new house. I used the bar pan for making brownies as often as preparing chicken breasts or quesadillas. The inherent benefits listed above made it a staple in my kitchen.

My pan cracked inexplicably after baking roasted potatoes. Hairline fractures developed on top, and when I allowed the pan to cool and lifted it, I discovered deep cracks ran from bottom to top.

Yes I am now finding a large number of hits on "broken bar pan" ! I just got mine and used it three times and like someone else said, I took mine out of the oven and it split in half.

I contacted Pampered Chef and told them about it and they are very helpful in getting an exchange. But that exchange is gonna cost me about 13-14 dollars in shipping as they want mine back (the broken one). So if past expereinces are an indicator of the future, yes I can send it back for three years and have it replaced. But if it breaks two more times that will be more in shipping than the pan's cost. Given all the problems theya re having with this pan (google for yourself) they should pull it from the market and refund the money. They most know of the extent of these problems!

Thanks
Steve

The large bar pan is an essential baking dish in my kitchen. I use it to make pizza, brownies, cinnamon muffins, breakfast dishes etc. I just roll out a pizza dough from Pillsbury and then brush it with a little oil and garlic then pre bake the pizza for about 10 minutes. I then remove the pan from the oven and add fresh tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, zuchini and sprinkle with some shredded cheese and italian spices. Then I put it back in the oven for about 15 minutes and out comes a great taking pizza with a wonderful crisp crust. After the pizza is eaten and the pan is ready to clean, I simply run hot water over it and use the included nylon scraper to get any baked on food off. My pan has been used for over a year and looks brand new because I have followed the manufactures directions to never use soap of any kind on it. Believe it or not soap is not needed to remove food from the pan. The key is to first oil it well on the first use and each use thereafter. Stoneware makes baked goods so good and I am so glad I have one in my kitchen. It really doesn't take long to clean it and it is so worth it. I love my Large Bar Pan.
