This product kicks A$$ !!!!!
I read the reviews, looking for a product with lots of positive remarks, and this one seemed to be at the top of the list. Thankfully, my friends here at Amazon really came through on this one.
Since moving into my current rental, I've been plagued with various "waves" of cockroach infestations, eventually discovering that a lot of them were getting into the house through the small lower openings in my front and side door. These beasts were huge, slow and disgusting, and the last thing I wanted to do was smash them with my foot. (Yuck. Who wants to use a squeegee to clean up your tile?)
Eventually the landlord installed a rubber flap along the bottom of one door, and I learned to keep the other one closed for the most part. This stopped the larger ones from getting inside, but in the last few months I've been seeing smaller ones in my bathroom. (Late at night.) Finally, disgusted with the Fu@#$ things, I decided to go with modern-day toxins, and go on the attack. (All hail Ortho, Monsanto etc. Very un-green I know...but I'm not about to invite spiders etc. into my house to do the job "naturally.")
BOTTOM-LINE, my beastly pets of "the slimy exoskeleton" are gone. The very first night, I actually caught the little beggars sneaking into the "trap" which means that Combat's bait is a good one, it really does attract cockroaches and it seems to begin working from the moment you set out the trap.

Now ask yourself...how often, have you read the "hype," paid your money, then been PERFECTLY satisfied with the results? Very rare experience indeed, but for me, this is exactly what happened. I can only believe that my uninvited insects took the bait home, and provided their entire scraggly hoard with a much deserved "dirt-nap." (Funny...I don't feel any guilt at all!)

Our former upstairs neighbor created a roach problem due to filth (after slipping into a drug habit and eventually needing to be taken away by the police for a psych evaluation), and suddenly for the first time in our lives we not only had a roach problem, we had an infestation (even seeing them during the day, which, when that happens, means they're overcrowded in the walls and so on, and out looking for food away from the rest of the colony).

What finally worked, after trying many other things, was to bomb the place with Raid Max Concentrated Fogger. I used Raid Max Concentrated Fogger in every room on the same day and it did indeed reduce the problem significantly and gave me a head start on getting a handle on it, but there were still a few stragglers for the next few days (it was that bad).

In addition to Raid Max Fogger, I used Combat Source Kill (in cupboards, drawers, under the refrigerator, and so on) so any stragglers might take the bait back to their nests, share it, and wipe out the colony, and I also bought boric acid at my local Walgreens.

These three products (and three different approaches to solving the problem) used in combination worked in about half a week -- finally.

I poured the boric acid behind the stove and refrigerator and in areas where I had frequently seen roaches so knew they had a traffic pattern.

Less than a week later, and they're gone finally, but this product alone won't do it. You want all three.

We had a fairly minor problem with roaches, attracted mostly by a pet cat's food and litter, but I was really getting sick of them. A couple of years of nontoxic methods, including several Black Flag Brands #61009 2PK Black Flag RoachMotel, had led at best to transient reductions, and they were recovering and expanding their nasty little population over time.

I tucked these things away near to the cat's eating and excreting areas but tucked away where the cat couldn't get at them, and in a couple of other places, and suddenly didn't see a single one of the nasty little crawlers again for over a month. I just saw *one* this morning, which I doubt is a sign of looming disaster.

It's worth noting that the active ingredient, Fipronil, is quite toxic to mammals and birds, so keep it away from pets and children, and wash your hands after use. It seems to be fairly readily biodegraded (see information in the article "Environmental Fate of Fipronil" by Amrith S. Gunasekara and Tresca Troung, available on the internet) but should be disposed of at toxic waste collectiona in your area (search the webisite for 1-800-RECYCLING, and organization with info on recycling and toxics disposal across the USA) to make sure it doesn't leach out into water supplies; on similar grounds, you probably shouldn't be using it if you are in an area with endangered bird species or close to a river.

I have ordered these before because they really work. I usually hide a couple of these in the kitchen, a couple in the living room, 1 in the bathroom and 1 in each bedroom. This helps cover and protect my apartment from roaches. They are easy to use, just snap the plastic to separate the traps and set them around the house in discreet areas. They keep my home bug-free for several months before I replace these. Excellent product.
