I still have my old LP from over two decades ago. I've cherished this album all those years and I love all those songs. It was available as a CD but, for some reason, I held on to my old LP.

Then I found this here and bought it. I half hoped to find the lyrics in the booklet. Nope, not there. My LP had no insert either. But there were interesting liner notes telling more about it.

A second LP was made available at the time with some leftover recordings from these sessions. Yes, they made a whole other album with songs that were cut off, only God knows why. They're very good too. That album is called "Grains of Sand". And... it's here, too!

This is an interestingly repackaged 2-CD set with both albums, each on one CD with additional bonus tracks. It's about two and a half hours of awesome songs. Not just "new versions" -- really other songs, and most of them are wonderful. The mastering of this CD issue is good enough for me to leave aside my old LP -- the sound is great!

The Mission (a.k.a. The Mission UK) are comprised of former members of The Sisters of Mercy. Different style. I wouldn't call it "Gothic rock" at all. It's something else. Something also wonderful. Something you should listen to and get to know.

This album is not about "fanatical atheism" like their other albums. It's about love and disrespect. I know, it's a strange combination, but that's how I would sum it up. Some tracks about love in a good way. Other ones about disastrous consequences of love. This album is less depressive, but I wouldn't say it's something you could dance to at all.

The first track, "Amelia", isn't even about love. It's about a girl who is constantly sexually abused by her own father.Read more ›

The Mission, or as some know them, Mission UK did more for music in the 80s with their hauntingly beautiful Butterfly on a Wheel than some groups did with an over abundance of albums. That song is an earworm in the most wonderful way possible.

The group, former members of Sister of Mercy, allow themselves to be less Goth and more awe. Their sound is familiar yet entirely new. Any listen is guaranteed to please!
