Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

This Casio moon phase hunting watch is the perfect outdoorsman timepiece, with a stylish design well suited for woods, lake or city wear. In addition to the automatic time, day, month and date displays, this convenient digital watch also indicates the best times to hunt based on the moon's phase, latitude and longitude. The watch displays the moon's age, phase and time, as well as sunrise and sunset information, for the current or designated day. A handy vibration alert can be used with the daily alarm, hourly time signal, or hunting timer so as not to disturb the quiet. The watch also offers a time memo, a 1/100 second stopwatch, and five daily alarm settings. An automatic electro-luminescent backlight with afterglow makes the display easy to read at any time, and the water-ready nylon band comes with a buckle clasp. The case is made from a durable polyurethane resin, and the watch is water resistant up to 330 feet (100 meters). This watch is backed by a 1-year limited manufacturer's warranty and offers a battery life of approximately five years.

The Pathfinder Story

Pathfinder: Feel the Field!

With the launch of its first watch in 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. Armed with cutting-edge technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered the field confident it could develop timepieces that would push watch technology forward.

Amazon features the world’s largest assortment of Casio Pathfinders. All Casio Pathfinders feature Digital compasses, Altimeters, Barometers and Thermometers. All have the easy to use functions, Casio calls this the A, B, C’s: One button gets you to where you need to be. Press A for Altimeter (Thermometer), B for Barometer, and C for Compass, it is as easy as ABC!

Some Pathfinders also have such technology as Tough Solar Power for battery life of 20-30 years (great for our planet), Atomic timekeeping for the more precise time available on earth as well as unique features like moon phase and tide graphs.

Depending on the model Pathfinders are water resistant from 100M to 200M. Pathfinders come in a variety of styles including Rubber/Resin bands, and even Titanium for the business man who is a weekend warrior.

Pathfinders feature advanced measurement functions making full use of miniaturized sensor technologies that monitor the changes in natural phenomena from moment to moment with reliable accuracy. Combining the operability required for an outdoor tool with the accuracy of a fine quality timepiece, PATHDINDER is constantly exploring new fields in pursuit of evolution without end.

The Casio Story

In developing its own wristwatches Casio began with the basic question, "What is a wristwatch?" Rather than simply making a digital version of the conventional mechanical watch, we thought that the ideal wristwatch should be something that shows all facets of time in a consistent way. Based on this, Casio was able to create a watch that displayed the precise time including the second, minute, hour, day, and month — not to mention a.m. or p.m., and the day of the week. It was the first watch in the world with a digital automatic calendar function that eliminated the need to reset the calendar due the variation in month length. Rather than using a conventional watch face and hands, a digital liquid crystal display was adopted to better show all the information. This culminated in the 1974 launch of the CASIOTRON, the world’s first digital watch with automatic calendar. The CASIOTRON won acclaim as a groundbreaking product that represented a complete departure from the conventional wristwatch.

Casio transformed the concept of the watch — from a mere timepiece to an information device for the wrist — and undertook product planning based on this innovative idea. We developed not only time functions such as global time zone watches, but also other radical new functions using Casio’s own digital technology, including calculator and dictionary functions, as well as a phonebook feature based on memory technology, and even a thermometer function using a built-in sensor. The memory-function watches became our DATA BANK product series, while the sensor watches developed into two unique Casio product lines of today: the Pathfinder series displaying altitude, atmospheric pressure, and compass readings.

In 1983, Casio launched the shock-resistant G-Shock watch. This product shattered the notion that a watch is a fragile piece of jewelry that needs to be handled with care, and was the result of Casio engineers taking on the challenge of creating the world’s toughest watch. Using a triple-protection design for the parts, module, and case, the G-Shock offered a radical new type of watch that was unaffected by strong impacts or shaking. Its practicality was immediately recognized, and its unique look, which embodied its functionality, became wildly popular, resulting in explosive sales in the early 1990s. The G-Shock soon adopted various new sensors, solar-powered radio-controlled technology (described below), and new materials for even better durability. By always employing the latest technology, and continuing to transcend conventional thinking about the watch, the G-Shock brand has become Casio’s flagship timepiece product.

Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, and the radio-controlled function means users never have to reset the time. In particular, the radio-controlled function represents a revolution in time-keeping technology similar to the impact created when mechanical watches gave way to quartz technology. Through the further development of high radio-wave sensitivity, miniaturization, and improved energy efficiency, Casio continues to produce a whole range of radio-controlled models.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wake up in time, May 12, 2007
I bought this watch for one reason: to wake me up in the morning -- but without waking my wife at the same time. I avoid the usual alarms that sound off -- I want a "private" alarm that wakes only me. This vibrating watch does this perfectly. It has at least 4 alarms, and I use 3 to wake me in 10 minute intervals, to be sure I come awake. Once you know the sequence of buttons to push, it's easy to set the alarm and to turn them off (for example, at the weekend, when I sleep later). The construction is good, the backlighting is good, and the strap is very strong and easy to fasten (with Velcro). I don't use this for "hunting," which is the purpose given to this watch -- there are all kinds of other functions avauilable that I don't use. But for my purposes, it is perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully functional, August 6, 2007
By E. Kelch (Alexandria, VA United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I too bought this as a silent alarm, but I am enjoying the additional features (such as moon phase). This watch is an embarrassment of riches: I can't believe there are five alarms, back lighting, timers, water resistance, and all the hunting and fishing settings for such a little price! I've previously paid twice as much for a Timex Indiglo that did less. I wish I'd had this watch when I was in the army.

I would give this watch five stars if the settings were more intuitive. I had to sit with the instruction booklet to program it to my location; I also needed the instructions to set the alarms. Neither task was too hard, but usually I can figure such things out on my own. This watch isn't that simple.

By the way, this watch is too big for my wrist both in dial-size and strap length (I'm a 5'10" woman), and it's extremely homely. However, I don't think that should be held against a men's hunting/fishing watch. All in all, this watch is very pleasing.

4.0 out of 5 stars This Is Not A Paid Political Announcement, February 2, 2007
By David Lee Belcher (Western PA USA) - See all my reviews
I really like this watch. I finally figured out how to set the hunting features. A rocket scientist I am not. I am still not sure about the memo thing. The vibration is great. I can't always hear a watches "beep", but this watch, when the alarms vibrate get my attention. Great for anyone who
takes medications or insulin. I recommend it. It is working perfectly.
