These washers are hard to find in stores, but they can be quite useful. I had a specific purpose in mind for them that required general shape and dimensions specified for this washer. Unfortunately, it appears that who ever was responsible for listing shoulder washers on Amazon did not understand how to list them properly or simply made some serious mistakes. I bought two different sets of shoulder washers one with a shoulder diameter of 1.25 inches and another with a shoulder diameter of 2 inches. Well... neither were what they were supposed to be. Both had a shoulder diameter of 0.72 inches. At first, I thought it might be a mistake (as in I had been sent the wrong item), but when I realized that both washers had the same shoulder diameter, I realized that this is probably what they are all like being that not only were they the wrong shoulder diameter, but they both happen to have the exact same (although incorrect) shoulder diameter. I am pretty sure Amazon did not send me the wrong items because all of the other dimensions match up correctly, which would have been unlikely if they had simply sent the wrong items, and it would have been especially unlikely for it to happen twice. I am not sure how they messed up the listings on these because the shoulder diameter is right on the packaging of one of items. At one point, I thought I might have misunderstood the definition of a shoulder diameter, but I confirmed my definition with a little of research, and besides, there is not a single way that you could measure these that would result in a measurement of 1.25 or 2 inches on either product. I decided to make due with what I got and modified them by combining them with more common stainless steel fender washers to attain a suitable diameter for my application.Read more ›

We replaced a standard and (ugly) picket railing on my above ground deck with a stainless steel cable and pipe railing system. I drilled .250 inch holes in 1 1/2 inch pipe and ran the SS cable vertically through the holes tightening the cable with turn buckles. I used the shoulder washers to keep the cable from rubbing on the holes I drilled in the pipe. The fit was perfect and the washers add a high end finished look to the railing. Folks keep admiring the railing asked "who installed it" or "where I bought the kit from". Got to love it when a plan comes together and these little washers sure helped.

I needed special sized insulators for a deer (electric) garden fence project. The sizing chart was just great. They functioned just as I had designed and now carry the 7000 volt fence charge.
