I bought two of these to use as replacements in some old speaker cabinets. I chose this model mainly because it fit my cabinets perfectly, but also because I had previously used their smaller 5-1/4" model and was happy with them.

These sound great, and they are well made. They are designed for professional sound reinforcement applications, so they can handle enormous amounts of power without distorting or burning out.

Another reason they worked for me is the sealed back design. My speaker enclosures do not have a chamber to isolate the midrange from the woofer, so I needed the sealed back like the ones I was replacing.

One small downside to the design is the use of foam surrounds. Foam is a very common material for speaker surrounds, but foam surrounds typically only last 15 to 20 years, and then they dry out and crumble. I would much prefer rubber surrounds which last way longer.

Over all, I am happy with this purchase and if I would recommend them for anyone who needs a 6-1/2" midrange.

For the price, you can't beat this speaker. I used it to replace a blown 6.5" midrange in a cabinet with a 7x2 horn and a 15" sub. They are clearer sounding at high volumes than the stock speakers! Sealed back is a must for a single chamber cabinet. Otherwise the sub would move the cone on the mid and distort the sound. Glad I bought one; heck I might replace the stock one in the other speaker cabinet. Speakers are Optimus STS-1500.

This will not fit the front doors of a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I purchased these specifically because they are a midrange, which would be ideal to replace the component speaker that was OEM, rather than put a coaxial in. However, there is maybe 2-1/4" of clearance between the window and the sheet metal of my door, so these did not fit. Not the fault of the manufacturer, completely my fault. I can't speak on their sound quality since I never installed them, but they have a pretty big magnet, larger than I anticipated.

I have had 4 of these 6.5" mid-range woofers in all 4 doors of my Blazer for about 3 months now. Each speaker has 75w RMS running to it. They sound excellent. Superb sound quality and I have not been able to make them distort yet even with volume turned up on high. I have to turn it down because my ears hurt too much.

The only problem I had with mounting them was the mounting depth. I failed to check the depth before installing and as a result the back of the speakers interfered with the window inside the door. I had to custom make some spacers to allow them to be mounted. Also had to dremel a little bit of the plastic door trim but nothing too drastic and everything still looks stock inside vehicle.

Overall these speakers have done everything I have asked them to do. They have out performed my friends $400 boston acoustics component set which have blown several times now with the exact same amp as me. If you enjoy piecing together your own sound system these 6.5" mid-range woofers get the job done.

I just used one of these to replace a 8 ohm front door speaker on a 2002 Volvo S60. I loved that I could dis-assemble the old speaker housing and solder this in for a perfect fit using the original connector. One reviewer wrote the terminals are not marked. They don't have a +/- but the positive terminal has a red base/mark behind it. I checked it with a small battery set up too. The sound is OK at best. The OEM speaker in my other door has twice the base that this one does. It would be OK if I didn't know any better, but I would prefer something else. 8 ohm speakers in this size are just hard to find.

this speaker is insanely powerful. you may want to install a lower power amp and speaker (in order for it to match a not insanely powerful rest of the system). I have it hooked up to a Lanzar 500x2 amp, with a component & tweeters. Used it to replace component mid-range woofers. Damn, it hits.
NOTE: this will not fit in many speaker holes. see attached pics and see if you are hard core enough to force it to fit.

These speakers are heavy duty judging by the weight of the magnet but had too much high end for what I intended. I used them for replacement in a low wattage two-way speaker cabinet. The other speaker was a very small piezo. These speakers are rated at 300 watts, so maybe I don't have enough power to drive whatever bass this can produce. But with my 15" subwoofer hooked up, everything is fine.
