Play Your iPod Over Your Car's FM Radio
Enjoy your iPod music and videos in the car while your iPod is securely mounted and charging in the elegant TransDock. And now with IntelliTune, finding an open FM frequency is easier than ever. With one click, TransDock finds the ideal station for transmitting your iPod over your car's FM radio.

Intelligent Design
TransDock broadcasts your iPod to an open FM frequency between 88.1 to 107.9. And with IntelliTune technology, you can scan for these open FM frequencies automatically with the simple push of a button.

Multimedia Experience in Your Car
With the new and improved TransDock, broadcasting iPod music is only the beginning. Using the AV-Out port and the appropriate cable (available separately), you can channel iPod video downloads through popular flip-down screens or in-headrest monitors. The AV-Out port can also be used with your cassette adapter or car auxiliary input for supreme audio transmission directly into your car stereo. Plus, with the Aux-In jack, all it takes is a standard mini-to-mini cable (available separately) to transmit the audio from any other MP3 player, laptop, or gaming system over your car stereo.

Plug in and Play TransDock requires no installation and is a great alternative to expensive custom installations. The 8-inch flexible gooseneck support arm allows you to easily position the TransDock, while the dock itself rotates for horizontal positioning--great for the intuitive use of Cover Flow on your iPod touch. TransDock takes mobile entertainment to the next level. So go ahead, take your show on the road!

Compatible with the following iPods: iPod nano 1G, 2G (aluminum), 3G, 4G; iPod touch 1G, 2G; iPod 4G; iPod classic; iPod with video; iPod with color display.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great sound. Great looks. SIMPLE and EASY. No wires., October 4, 2008
I can't imagine an easier product to use. You just:

1) Open the box and snap the three pieces together.
2) Plug the TransDock into your car's cigarette lighter.
3) Plug your iPod into the Transdock.
4) Press the center button on the TransDock. It will find the best (least interference) FM frequency and display it.
5) Tune your car radio to the indicated frequency.

Now whatever you play on your iPod will play on your FM radio. I'm not an audiophile, but the sound quality is very good and clear to my ears. In my rural area, this works great. I've also had no problems in a nearby mid sized city (300,000+) (and never had to change frequencies). I have heard that in major urban areas you may have problems finding a frequency without competing signals. I haven't yet taken this to a large city, so I don't know.

The construction and looks of this unit are very good. It is black and blends very well with the dashboard in both our Honda Civic and our Toyota Tacoma (both with black dashboards). In both cases it looks well integrated - much less kludgey looking than most aftermarket GPS units, for example.

It fits very snugly into the cigarette lighter - it never moves around while I drive over bumpy roads. The gooseneck can be bent a little if you need, but is very rigid and holds its shape. The neck is fairly short - so the bottom of the unit will be about 3 - 4 inches above the lighter socket.

You can't tell from the photo, but the gooseneck attaches near the top of the unit, not the bottom.

There are a couple of jacks in the bottom of the unit marked "AV OUT" and "AUX IN". I haven't had a reason to use them. They are completely out of view in the car since they are on the bottom side.

Other comments:
Since this unit is so easy to plug in and remove (and is so small), it would be very easy to take with you in a rental or friend's car.

My (possibly naive) assumption is that the AUX IN port will let you plug in a non iPod mp3 player.

I have a new 4th generation Ipod Nano. It wasn't clear when I bought the Transdock that it would work with the new Nano. No problems there.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent iPod fm transmitter, January 8, 2009
I received this as a gift. I use it with 2nd gen. iPod Touch and an iPod Classic. Traveled from VA to PA and only had to change stations 2-3 times. It works great! Very easy to use - take it out of the box, plug it into the car lighter, pop on iPod, hit the search station button, set your radio station to that channel & you're done!
There's a flexible heavy duty snake cord in the back which plugs into the car lighter so you can adjust the height, viewing angle, etc. Another bonus: it also charges your iPod.

4.0 out of 5 stars great FM transmitter & charging cradle!, September 21, 2009
By J. Chu (New York, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I bought this just to try it out even though I already have a cassette one where you plug into the iPod. I have a iPod nano 2nd gen. I was expecting a lot of static but where I live, which is the suburban part of NY, I get great signal from this device. I always hear of people complaining that the FM transmitters suck but this works great. Very easy to use, I barely referred to the manual and I love that it has the "Intellitune" feature where it scans all the radio stations for the best one for you to play your iPod on. However, one of the downsides is that when I drive towards the city, finding a station that doesn't have static in the background is VERY hard. I had to make it scan multiple times and it would give me back the same couple of stations that still have static or another station somewhat playing in the back. Then in that case, I had to go back to my cassette player for the iPod which plays perfectly clearly. I figured that if I get one that plugs into the battery outlet in the car and I end up driving a car that does not have a cassette feature, I could use this one. In conclusion, I do recommend this product but it really depends on where you are going to be using it. In my case, if I'm out in the suburbs, it works superb. In the city, not well. Another plus is the fact that it charges your iPod while playing so you will never be on low battery! I used to run into the problem of my iPod running low playing music off the cassette player. Excellent feature because I only have a charger that plugs into the wall outlets in a home and this can play music WHILE charging. At home while it's charging, I cannot play music off of it.
