These boxes are almost there. The stacking is great, the closure is tight, and the slots are the right size. The hinge sucks. I mean, it really sucks: It won't stay open all the way, just at that 45 degree angle that encourages the box to tip over when grabbing ammo. I did not realize that these did not have an actual hinge since the 100 count version I got for 9mm had an actual hinge instead of a solid piece of plastic. I want to love these but they can be a pain to use.

THIS IS FOR THE .45 / .40 /10MM GREEN MODEL-
The Good:
-These cases are a decent value for the money and the pebbled grip surface is much improved over the older models.

The Bad:
-The plastic is slightly more brittle than comparable products.
-Plastic also seems slightly thinner than the older models.

The Ugly:
-The product image depicts a clear olive-ish (OD) green color; However, my three arrived in a day-glow/neon "zombie" green.
-I understand many people like the "zombie" green color these days, but for me it is absolutely undesirable.

These 50 round ammo boxes are more preferred and easier to use to fill in empty space in ammo cans and gun bags. They are very durable and have a great seal as well. the green color just seems more military like but they all work just as well.

I like the translucent plastic as you can easily see how many rounds you have in the case. Comes with labels so you can identfy what you you put in the case if you are doing custom loads. I use it to hold 45ACP semi-wadcutters and it does the job nicely. The only cocern, as others have mentioned, is that it has a flexible plastic strip for a hinge rather than a true hinge. I suspect, over the long term, this plastic strip will eventually become brittle& break, rendering the cover useless. Also, when you open the top, its natural open position is at about a 45 degree opening, making it cumbersome to retrieve and insert rounds withouth holding the cover back with you other hand.

Other than these "minor" annoyances, it does the job for storing 45ACP rounds.

These ammo boxes work fairly well but I would suggest buying the 100 round ammo boxes. It can be difficult with one hand to hold open the lid and get your ammo out while holding the magazine or handgun in your other hand. The hinge itself resists being left fully open. A better option is to go with the 100 round boxes, even if you only put 50 in it as the lid stays fully open using a better hinge system.

Pros: Ammo fits well, and the size fits about perfectly in 50 or 30 cal ammo cans. The clasp is strong and firm, the plastic is strong. I anticipate good long life with these.

Cons: The hinge is not a true hing with a metal pin, just plastic that bends. It may wear out eventually from heavy use, but not for a long, long time.

Thoughts: Great for long term storage, reloading, sorting remnants of disparate ammo, anything you want. I'm buying more.

I have several different kinds of MTM cases. They are all good quality and work well for me as I often shoot at friends and relatives that live in the country, without the niceties of a covered range. These stand up better to moisture and getting banged around than does a cardboard box (obviously). I will continue to buy these when I need them.

Good solid cases that securely hold ammunition and very durable. The latch sticks out about 3/16th of an inch making it difficult to store a larger quantity of boxes in military Ammo cans. Otherwise its a very good product.
