Bought this for use with my alcohol ink painting on YUPO paper and ceramic tiles. I don't really like the effect that it produces and can get the same effect using my gloved finger or even a cotton ball. If you like an even all over pattern in your artwork, you might like it. The alcohol inks flow on the paper and tiles and this item adds texture but is not really needed. I can get texture with so many other things that I find myself not using this. I think it would be perfect for stamping inks on paper for a nice even background.

I received one of these as a gift and discovered how useful and practical they are. I now have 6 and find that is not enough. I use them with ink pads, stains, paints, alcohol inks. I don't like to change the pad every time I change color especially when layering colors. Having several available keeps my work area and my skin much cleaner. I recommend these for any of the messy projects you start that require spreading color without a paint brush. Art should be fun and these help keep it that way no matter what you need to do later in the day.

Although I do use a few of the applicators for what they are sold for, inking things, I have also used these to make my own stamps. It's dang difficult to find these type of stamp handles and this one is well made and works well for my projects.

The Ranger Adirondack Alcohol Inck Applicator took a little longer to arrive but was in great condition and exactly as advertised. The price was economical too. I belong to a polymer clay guild and I used it for a workshop in decorating polymer clay with alcohol inks. I used my pasta machine to thinly roll out a small sheet of white clay and before it was baked I decorated it using this applicator. I attached one of the rectagles of felt that came with it to the applicator by just pushing it onto the velcro. I placed a few drops each of several harmonizing colors of ink on the pad in a random pattern and then pounced the applicator all over the clay. I then let the pad dry out a little and added several drops of gold ink and pounced over the design with it. The handle is smooth and very easy to grasp and hold firm. The pattern is beautiful. I dried the ink on the unbaked clay under a fan and then punched out flat oval inch long beads with polymer clay cutters and used my needle tool to poke holes in each at the top of each bead for a jump ring. I will bake the beads until they are hard, add, jump rings, paint on some glaze, dry and then string them onto a chain with other beads to make a beautiful necklace. I then pulled off the felt to be dried and maybe reused. A bunch of felt pieces came with the applicator and I purchased a package of extra felt pieces. I'm very pleased with this applicator and its parts.

Stamp is great but the felt pads are worthless unless you are ok with lots of lint embedded in your ink on the paper or other substrate. I find that if I just want to create a cute background it's fine but if you are refining the initial stamping the lint becomes your enemy.

I am keeping my stamp and using sponges of various kinds instead. Makeup sponges can be easily trimmed to size and affixed with some adhesive loop Velcro to the stamp where the sponge duplicates the function of the felt but without the lint. Sea sponges do work well without the stamp as well as foam brushes etc.

Love the handle, but not the cost. Sure you can remove each pad for a different color if you don't mind getting ink on your fingers. But if you are like me you like to have several of these at the ready, hence the cost comes into play. They are very easy to use through and I do like them

Liked the ease of the applicator, but don't like the pads. The pad leave lint behind on the tiles, no matter when I "pat" the tile.

When dry the tile has many inconsistancies on the surface. I started using a sea sponge instead....it works much better and
leaves no residue and doesn't change the surface of the tile.

It's pretty self-explanatory. Put the little pad on and dab the ink all around. Take the pad off and throw away. They also make a small one for small areas. I will say, using a regular piece of felt is not only cheaper, but also a little better. Otherwise, these pieces might leave little bits of material after a while.
