About adidas

The vision of company founder Adolf Dassler has long become reality, and his corporate philosophy the guiding principle for successor generations. The idea was as simple as it was brilliant. Adi Dassler’s aim was to provide every athlete with the best possible equipment. It all began in 1920, when Adi Dassler made his first shoes using the few materials available after the First World War.

The adidas name dates back to 1948, deriving from the first two syllables of Adi Dassler’s first and last name. One year later, Adi Dassler registered the Three Stripes as a trademark. After a period spanning almost 70 years, the Dassler Family withdrew from the company in 1989, and the enterprise was transformed into a corporation ("Aktiengesellschaft"). French-born Robert Louis-Dreyfus was Chairman of the Executive Board from April 1993 to March 2001. It was he who initiated adidas’ flotation on the stock market in November 1995. adidas--a name that stands for competence in all sectors of sport around the globe. Today, the adidas product range extends from shoes, apparel and accessories for basketball, soccer, fitness and training to adventure, trail and golf.

Product Description

Forgetting your casual footwear can be a real painwho wants to walk around downtown and hit the local pubs with bike shoes on? The KEEN Mens Commuter Sandal has a full-length, SPD-compatible plate so you dont have to bring extra shoes and you dont have to bike in sketchy flip-flops. Plus KEEN gave these sporty sandals a trail-inspired design (support, toe protection, moisture-wicking, breathable mesh lining). The Aegis treatment fights bacteria and foot funk and a removable footbed makes for fast drying.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST EVER, October 26, 2008
These are the BEST SPD sandals ever made. I have owned them all: Lake, Shimano and Nashbar. These cover your toes better. Comfortable. Seem well made. The cleat cover bolts on so no more chopping off fingers with the box cutter. Also the cleat is pretty well recessed so you don't clack. Buy them now they will improve your bike life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great commuter shoe., December 5, 2009
I own these and love them. They are a fantastic biking sandal. They offer great toe protection and are stiff enough to bike, but comfortable enough to walk. You barely notice that they are multi-purpose.

A note to T. Lahr...a simple solution to your problem is to tuck the cord into itself. Since this is displayed in every picture of the shoe, it was likely the intended design.

1.0 out of 5 stars Tight toes, August 4, 2009
By John S. Allen (Waltham, MA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
One major advantage of sandals is the freedom of the big toe to point straight forward as it is meant to in nature. These aren't really sandals, they are shoes with an open top. The tight toe box forces my big toe toward the others. Yes, there is a compromise between safety and comfort with sandals, but I used to address it with the older Shimano sandals by buying them one size large. Also, there are sandals such as the Nashbar which have a flap that passes in front of the toes without a complete toe box.

Feet expand slightly while walking and a shoe that feels comfortable at first may not while walking.

2.0 out of 5 stars one major design flaw!
There is one major design flaw on this otherwise practical and decently-comfortable biking sandal: the draw chord is long enough to fall into the chain! Read more
