I like to sprinkle sea salt on food. I tried putting it in a bowl on the counter, but I was worried dust and grime would get into it. Then I tried a tiny tupperware, but it was annoying to keep taking off the lid when I needed salt. This is a great intermediate solution. Thanks to the bend in the design my salt stays clean but it is very accessible.

The size is big enough to allow my hand in easily.

I got one of these for myself and one as a gift! the blue is the most beautiful color Emile Henry makes in my view...but it does draw the eye. Some of the other colors might be preferred if you want it to disappear into the background.

Dishwasher safe.

Trying to find a gift for that person who has everything and loves to cook? Look no further than the salt pig! Yes, a strange name (maybe it makes more sense in French?!) but a simple, elegant, extremely useful addition to any kitchen. Professional chefs always practice mis en place, in other words, getting all your ingredients ready to go before you start cooking and the salt pig fits into this well. I use it for finishing salt (Maldon Flaked Sea Salt-the best!), but it would work well with any salt you use with frequency.

I bought this for my husband and it works great. It serves it's intended purpose well. It holds quite a lot of salt... Maybe 1/4 cup or so if I had to guesstimate and the opening is wide enough to fit your fingers in to grab a pinch of salt. It's not the most curved entry to the salt and you can get some spatters into the container if its very nearby your stove, but this can easily be resolved by turning the opening slightly away from the cook top. I've experienced no clumping of the salt. I had no chips in the finish and like the look of the white color . It is pure white. My husband seems happy with this purchase too.

I love the colors and textures of Emile Henry products, and this one is the same as I have come to expect. It is another nice color to add to me kitchen. I also prefer the 45 degree decline with the wide opening, over some other options that are 90 degrees and one size through the entire opening. I find this more easily accessible to my larger hands than the other options.
