5.0 out of 5 stars Great sound, great design, June 23, 2008
By Michael J. D. Auben (Madison, AL United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I have gone through several sets of earbuds for my MP3 player, but was never really satisfied with the sound, and none of them fit securely enough to use duing any sort of activity. I decided to get myself a quality set of light weight headphones and picked up these Sony's last week. I am totally satisfied with them. The bass is much fuller than any of the earbuds I have tried, and the midrange and treble much more detailed. When playing music I have heard before it is like listening to a whole new recording. Once properly adjusted, the headphones are comfortable and secure, too, allowing me to use them while engaging in routine physical activity like running, cycling, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sounding; Fitting Headphones, April 13, 2009
I got these as a present recently and let me just say that they are great! I usually prefer over-the-ear headphones, because I can't stand the sound quality and discomfort caused by in-ear headphones. However, over-the-ear headphones can be cumbersome and annoying when running or working out.
In comes the Sony MDR-AS100W. They fit my head perfectly, and create a comfortable seal over my ear canal. I love the combination of silicon ear bud combined with the more traditional Ipod earphone-like headphones that go over the ear canal. Sort of combine the bests of both designs.
As far as activity; these headphones do not move at all. Perfect for running, hiking, or working out. The short cord means you will not have an annoying wire getting in the way of your movements.
If you can find a deal on these, I definitely suggest buying them.

1.0 out of 5 stars What was Sony thinking???, April 21, 2008
By T. Shaw "TLS" (Houston, TX United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I purchased these at a major store on a Saturday to replace some $10 headphones by Sony that had shorted out. Price was $99, but I had just got paid so figured, I'll splurge because maybe the sound quality will be great. Was I ever wrong! The sound had no bass and was quite inferior to my $10 model. The cord was so non-ergonimically planned and dangled to my mid-thigh (I'm 6'1" tall). Also, these headphones actually hurt my ears BIGTIME! I returned them for a refund the very next day. In summary: (1) 10 times more expensive than basic model (2) very poor sound quality (3) painful in my ears and (4) monstrously long cord. Did they test this product with any consumers? Man, someone will be getting fired over this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible. Horrible. Horrible.
