If you just want to record voice, or want to use the H4 as the dorkiest mp3 player in the world, go right ahead and you will be fine. If you want to record audio for use with a synchronized video production, forget it. Search the web, this piece of junk plays audio back too fast. When attempting to synch with video the H4 is about 1 second fast at the two minute point.
To add insult to injury the Zoom tech support, who's entire job is to know about the Zoom, expresses fake surprise when you ask them about the problem that's documented all over the internet... like they're hearing it for the first time even though many people (including myself) have called them about it.
Even worse, at about the 2 year point the Zoom's dc converter quit working... the whole unit gets really hot. Plus the batteries only last a little over an hour now, so something is seriously wrong with my Zoom.
Frankly, this thing is a POS, and I recommend that nobody buy one.
For the three years I've had this piece of junk it has been nothing but problems. The interface is, frankly, from the 1980's. It is decipherable, but at a gig one has to remember how the idiots that designed it meant for you to access this or that function. Who needs more worries?
As soon as my zoom has been fully depreciated I am taking it to the rifle range for a little payback.
I am extremely sorry that I spent hard earned money on this useless piece of junk.

O melhor benefício-custo dos micro gravadores. Funciona muito bem para várias situações, além de ser um boa "IO" para quem quer começar um pequeno home-studio. Uma das minhas maiores alegrias como músico e produtor no momento - uma mão na roda. O pessoal da Zoom fez o dever de casa direitinho.
The best micro recorders benefit-cost. It works very well for various situations, besides being a good "IO" for those who want to start a small home-studio. One of my greatest joys as a musician and producer at the time - a hand on the wheel. The staff of the Zoom did homework very well.
